Having spent the last year talking up the Black Cats to his former team-mate, the Sunderland defender would naturally be delighted if the club can snatch the âfantasticâ France international from under the noses of fellow suitors Aston Villa. That still appears a long shot, he concedes, but with NâZogbia seemingly sold on a move to the Midlands â and Wigan turning down an initial bid from the Villans â there is still a chance that he could be pulling on a red and white shirt at some point. âI have spoken to Charles a few times this summer,â Bramble told The Journal at Sunderlandâs German training base. âWhen I spoke to him last year he said itâd be a fantastic move for him. Whether it materialises for him or not I donât know â but you never know in football. I think the players would love him here, the fans would love him to be here â but itâs out of our hands. âWe want as many fantastic players as we can here, heâs a fantastic player and heâd be great for this club.â Despite Steve Bruce writing off the move over the weekend, NâZogbia remains on the Sunderland managerâs wishlist. The Black Cats boss is being kept abreast of developments out in Germany and while the £10million price tag has made him âtoo richâ for Bruce to move swiftly, the stalling of his move to Villa Park is a positive development. He would need to shift players off the wage bill and probably raise funds to make it happen â but Bramble believes it would be the right move for his friend. âThereâs nothing much I can do, but Iâd like him here. Iâve told him how great Sunderland are â he knows how good a club it is. âEvery time we speak, we speak about football and he knows how highly I think about the club. He knows everything about it.â Landing NâZogbia would give Bruce the final piece of his jigsaw but even if nothing happens, an air of positivity emanates from the Black Catsâ German training base in the Hannover hills. Hamstring victim John OâShea (pictured below) was sent home yesterday, partly so that he could be with his young family, and partly to find a property in the North East following his move. Although not available for the next two games, the former Manchester United man is unlikely to be out for long. The team are being worked hard and several players rested so far are edging closer to returns. Asamoah Gyan has done double shifts to restore his sharpness and the striker is nearly ready to rejoin his team-mates in full training. While Wes Brown â although out of the Hannover 96 game tonight â could make his bow within the next seven days. A friendly has been penciled in against Kilmarnock on July 27 which will give Keiren Westwood and Gyan an opportunity to play. Bruce is braced for a tough test against Europa League qualifiers Hannover, who finished fourth in the ultra-competitive Bundesliga. âTheyâre about two weeks in front of us in terms of preparation so it will be tough,â he said. âBut thatâs what weâre here for - to test ourselves and build our fitness. âIf you finish fourth in the Bundesliga youâre a good team, so we know what to expect. Weâre going to come up against a very, very good team. âWeâre looking forward to it. Weâll blood people who havenât had much football yet, because I want everyone to have plenty of football in them.â Read More http://www.journallive.co.uk/safc/s...s-titus-bramble-61634-29085974/#ixzz1SdJ6lhTp Sorry for another post on this everyone
Talking to a few of the Villa lads down here where I live 2 mins from the bodymoor heath training ground the word is he is not going to Villa. I think he will end up at the SOL. He wants to come and Bruce wants him. The stumbling block is wages and the fee. I can see us paying the 10m and him being on 50k a week (top of our wage cap). I suspect Whelan and Nzogs agent are the ones pushing both those prices up, Bruce will wait it out for both to get a little more desperate so he gets his man for a price and wage that suits us. Bruce is becoming a master of the transfer window. Our problem as fans is we are impatient and we also believe everything that's written in the press. Time will tell but I can see him wearing the red n white by the end of August.
You get the feeling maybe we need to shift Steed or similar to free up for a large wage? I don't think the fee's a problem, Steeeed's on 40k a week.
But if it gets to the stage that fee and wage demands are reduced then NUFC may get involved again as that was the reason for them dropping interest in him and it certainly seemed that Newcastle was his preferred choice of club until they opted out.
See, i thought that initially, but these direct quotes from Bramble suggest he's always fancied the move. I think the main thing from a Toon perspective is you don't desperately need him, ability wise, yeah, but 3 left footed players who are predominantly wingers, will Ashley feel £10million is justified? I think Newcastle's big interest was pre-Marveaux, remember, he was expected to go Liverpool, he was a bonus signing, of sorts.
Always viewed Zog as a bit of a mercenary TBH. A bloody good player but a mercenary none the less. If he was though wouldn't he just go to Villa? After reading Bramble's comments it sounds like he actually wants to play for SAFC. I for one would be very happy to welcome him here.
I think it’s completely obvious that SAFC was his first and his last preferred destination right from the start. I have maintained that Bruce would be the decisive factor in his choice. I think its all about thrashing out a deal with Whelan NOT the player himself. I am more than confident he will be a red & white by the time we play Liverpool in 4 weeks time. You’re lot where never in the running and are not now. He wants to join a progressive club, with a good squad of proven players and a manager he trusts and has a good working relationship with. Ashley, Pardew and the Holland 3 just don’t fit the bill for N'Zogbia. .
Skunkcastle will do what they did last season, throw bids in with a few minutes of the transfer window left, in the hope that it shows the unwashed supporters they have tried to buy someone, even though there's **** all chance of any of it coming off. But I'm suprised they need any new players, from reading the mags comments on the new frog players and how the mags say they are ****ing awesome, much better than the premier ready ****e we've bought (so it is alleged) and that they'll single handidly destroy any ****er they play against next season.
As already said, why would any club (unless desperate) give Whelan 10-12 million for a player who is out of contract in 12 months. Safc are playing it cool. We want him, he knows it, he wants to come. He will come for about 5 million. Quinnn will wait until the end of transfer window if need be. Whelan will cave in, cause yer see, he's a greedy twat like the fat mag.(just like all shop keepers)
He stays at Wigan and will come to the SOL for FREE next season .... Mr Whelan needs to understand the meaning of the word compromise!!
Just to let you know! Charlie tweeted about an hour ago, 'my Last 2 days before the Trip hopefully ☺' Villa fly to Hong Kong on Sat so looks like he whats to move to Villa
A ****ing year.............. Please stop ****ing over this player, who ain't going to ther SOL..despite what some people think.??????
