    It's called 'bluff' mate.

For me, this makes me feel we'll get him more, and are telling people to stop taking the piss on the fee.

I think that is it full stop. Now Bruce takes whatever sized pot of cash he gets from Short and throws it at a new striker.

I think it's came out that the player wants to come here, that's certainly the press line on it, and as a result the club have, same as we did with Catts, took a step back knowing Wigan will drop their demands.

Whelan dropped a bollock saying 'we can't afford not to sell him...' if we as a club now know he wants to come here, Whelan will have to cave, or lose him for nothing, he could sign for a big French team in January, for nothing.

Wigan have to deal, and they have to deal on the buyers terms now that the competition is fading for his signature.

I agree with this 100%. Sort of what I was getting at on the earlier thread.

I feel more confident we will get him now than at any time so far.

Wigan have rejected A 10M bid from Villa for Zog

I reckon we should go for Kranjcar or Clint Dempsey both are great players and a cheaper option.

TBH it's not just that he is good player although overpriced IMO it's the statement Sunderland AFC would be sending out by buying him.

Unfortunately we are unable to compete financially at this moment in time. Everybody at Sunderland knows and wants N'zogbia at the club because he can propel us into a top 8 team but we simply just cant afford him and thats just the reality, which is hard to take as our team would be so much better with him in it.

    Fair point mind.

I think there's a difference between 'we can't afford' and 'we won't pay'.

I don't want my club overstretching, but there is a point where if we want to be a big player, we will have to.

I think it's the latter, personally.

I'm with you BB and have no doubt that we can afford if want to but are sticking to the seemingly, not at any price, stance.

Think we could well get him.

The sooner this farce is over the better for everyone.

Me, I don't want to see N'zogbia in red and white next season, yes he's a good winger but ffs, if he wanted to join us he would have put pen to paper months ago. He can **** off for all I care.

The latest Sky Sports on him has Wigan refusing the 10 million bid from Villa, then it gives the usual suspects, us, Everton, Newcastle blah blah.

You know, I've reached the stage where I'd love all the clubs to pull out and leave Wigan with a player too expensive for them who dreams of a move to Champions League football (which I still think N'zogbia is trying to attain, but with no luck)

    **** off N'zogbia!! :emoticon-0173-middl

How is it a farce? and he couldnt of put pen to paper if we never made an offer, its just tactics and all it is is paper rumours to date and to tell N'zogbia to **** off is a bit premature isnt it, I bet of he signs you will be over the moon just like 99% of other Sunderland fans.

Don't beat around the bush mate just get it off your chest, with you on this one mind if he wanted to come to us he would have by now is it 3 seasons we've been after him now?
He is a good player but not worth 10mil plus, lets just leave him where he is and go for someone else. Not talking the Downings or Johnsons of the world but why not have a bid for Ethrington from Stoke decent winger and left footed, would rather have him than N'Zogbia more of a team player as well.

Very good player Etherington, but we don't buy from Stoke, we sell them our leftovers.

    ;)
