We always end up with an inferior version of our first choice. I remember that we ended up with Christian Gross when we wanted Ottmar Hitzfeld. Is Felix Magath the ersatz Julian Nagelsmann?
Yeah we’ll probably end up with David Wagner or something. Mind you Nagelsmann or not, they’ll probably be sacked after a similar amount of time as Jose was once Levy tries telling them how to do their job and who to keep.
If we have been expelled from the premier league and only have this wretched super league then I really don't care who is in charge - in fact Levy can pick the team himself as he so clearly wants to.....
If so, then their Instagram messages to Jose would make them huge hypocrites. Son and Kane's messages seemed very sincere expressions of disappointment. As did Davies' and probably Diers (it's in Portugese).
Anyone else surprised Ledley didn't get the gig till the end of the season. He is closer to the first team than Mason or Powell.
So many reason why not Barry Fry. Age, playing style and a lurking suspicion he wouldn't get on with Levy and the board Barry Fry condemns the proposed European Super League as an ‘exercise in greed’ and predicts it won’t go ahead
I saw some of those messages. I note some notable absentees but the ones I did see didn't seem sincere to me.
Actually Nuno Santo isn't a bad shout. Done wonders with very little. Let's give him Bale, Dele, Kane and Son so that we can see what he can add. Plus point, we may not need a new right back if he can get Doherty to the level he was before he joined us.
You could be right, but why leave a message like if you have been working to get rid. Who is he trying to impress?
Been reading that article about Skippy posted in the other thread. Has anyone mentioned Farke yet from Norwich? He won promotion with Norwich and seems to work well with his players. That's enough for me.
Players don't tend to publicly complain about managers leaving for obvious reasons. That post from kane doesn't emit genuine warmth to me, nor do the others. I appreciate some like Jose on a personal level but perhaps not professionally.
Disagree. Been backed heavily at Wolves, more or less had a Premier League calibre team in the Championship, came up, added more quality thanks to the Mendes contacts and probably has Wolves where they should be. Their style of football isn’t great either. I’d be disappointed if he was appointed in the summer.
The club have confirmed Mason as head coach til the end of the season (I think everyone expected that anyway to be honest). Chris Powell and Nigel Gibbs will act as his interim assistants, Ledley keeps his place as coach whilst Vorm has returned as interim keeper coach.
I’m surprised fans genuinely want Potter or Parker, to me that would scream lack of ambition. Nagelsmann or Rodgers should be the standard the club are going for imo. Allegri is a big name but the style of football he’d bring isn’t dissimilar to Mourinho so I’d rather not see that again.
I’m not totally sold on Parker at the moment but to play Devil’s advocate you could say what’s so ambitious about Nagelsmann and Rodgers? Nagelsmann hasn’t won anything and Rodgers has only won stuff in the tinpot SPL. Potter arguably has similar credentials having gained three promotions and a cup win in Sweden. For me it’s purely about getting in a manager with the right philosophy now. Nagelsmann, Rodgers and Potter all play a brand of football you can generally enjoy as a fan and all have helped improve one or two teams that they’ve managed. The way I see it, our golden spell has gone, we should’ve won something with the team we had under Poch, just like we should’ve done with the team we had under Redknapp and it’s now about tasking a manager to try and rebuild a team like those two and ideally go that one step beyond. I think Nagelsmann, Rodgers and Potter could all potentially do that with the right backing - but backing is obviously the sticky point as I have literally zero faith in Levy and Hitchen/ dumb and dumber any more.
