1. Hoddle was an awful man manager and was a poor appointment. 2. Putting pleat in charge for virtually a whole season was never a good idea. 3. Santini was a car crash of an appointment. 4. Jol...levy did the right thing listening to Arnessen ... excellent choice. Levy then undid this by treating him appallingly. 5. Ramos ... ultimately a mistake. 6. Redknapp...Great choice. 7. AVB ... was never going to work...his Chelsea were a relative car crash until he left...and then within 10 weeks they won the FA Cup and CL.. with Dimatteo! 8. Tim shewood ain't even worth commenting on. 9. Pochettino was excellent obviously. 10. JM was unforgivable. 11. Not having a plan in place to sack JM in February when it was clear what was going to have to happen was unacceptably incompetent. 12. Not sacking JM until April was unbelievable. 13. Mason, 6 days before a cup final was plain weird. 12. Taking 10 week to appoint your 5th choice was beyond bad. 12 managerial appointments and only 3 good ones is why I believe he should be removed from picking future managers. I do not get what there is to not understand. I get you may not agree but a 25% success rate is poor by any standards...BTW it is unfortunate that you insist on using terms like manta ... it is as dismissively rude as those who use terms such as Levy apologists . It doesn't tend to lend itself to a productive debate imho.
Rather than go through the entire list as that would take ages, the list can roughly be broken down into three categories a.) Attempting to get the fans onside - Hoddle replacing Graham is an obvious example of this, as if Not Being Alan Sugar wasn't plenty to get ENIC credit in the bank - Santini was definitely this, especially after having Pleat carry the can for most of the season - The ubermensch was absolutely this, given we needed to do something "big" after sacking Poch b.) Acting quickly, rather than overthinking - Jol shuffling up the bench was obviously this - Redknapp was brought in to quickly turn results around, but exceeded this a couple of seasons in - Poch effectively fell into our lap and we made damn sure we got him signed up before he went anywhere else c.) The opposite of b - Pleat carried the can for so long because Levy wanted to change the club structure with Arnesen at the heart of it, so whoever would replace Hoddle would have been a caretaker barring the total fluke of hiring somebody Arnesen would have clicked with - Ramos was entirely down to Comolli deciding he would work with Ramos one way or another, even though Jol was coach (but Levy really should have reined in Comolli when he was outright sabotaging Jol in the transfer market, instead he seemed okay with club officials bumping into Ramos in a Seville hotel lobby while we were playing against Watford or somebody like that so didn't have a plausible reason for that happening) - Villas-Boas was an attempt to box clever, but it turned out that boxing isn't the sport with the shuttlecock and somehow it got worse when Baldini was brought in to assist with signings and went completely doolally with the Bale money - Currently we're in a spot because Hitchen drew up a list of who should be our new manager, then Paratici became available at the end of the season and so we cycled back to what happened with Pleat - but instead of Paratici signing on the doted line and saying whoever he wanted, we went back to square one and ultimately ended up with somebody who was brought in to improve Paratici's relationship with Jorge Mendes as if waving a £20 note out of the window wouldn't do similar ...what was I saying about not taking ages? Goddamn it, Comolli
I don’t really get the whole Mendes rumour as regards the Nuno appointment. Paratici signed a very small number of Mendes clients (maybe 2?) at Juve and has been in the game long enough to have his own networks, rather than relying on a high profile agent relationship.
My first thought was that it was just Mason showing how late he was working. Most of Twitter seems to think it’s him returning to replace Nuno. Can’t see it being the latter to be honest, at least not yet. The THST have called a meeting though for the club’s board to discuss its strategy, what it considers a success and our DNA being regained.
Nuno stats right now after PL match week 6 (a sixth of the way thru) : - GF/GA already worse than Jose (see the "Season compass" ) - The best English striker in ages (Kane) who is 20+ PL goals per season reliable, has yet to score Sadly only a question of time now before Levy pulls the trigger once again.
There's been several media hit pieces in the last 24 hours, with the Wail getting stuck in with relish this morning, while Matt Law in yesterday's Torygraph was a lot of mud-flinging considering he was somehow linking our last three games to changing our legal and marketing departments over the summer as if a is connected to b
Duncan Castles is saying we’re already drawing up a list of replacements as players are unhappy with his tactics. It is Duncan Castles… but you kinda feel it’s believable too.
Levy would be dumb if he wasn’t looking at possible replacements in case this situation on the pitch doesn’t change quickly
Tbf... he didn't do it with JM last February do why would he do it now? If we are looking at a replacement then no one will touch us cos the job has become a farce. Nuno needs time ... he was appointed so he needs to be given the time to implement his plan. This ain't a dig at anyone here btw
I agree completely that no manager of any quality's coming anywhere near us right now. Nuno's should be given longer, although I've no confidence that he will be given a meaningful length of time, or it'll make sufficient difference to see him here next season. The club's in disarray with a growing proportion of the fans having had enough of it...and that may be a potential difference between Mourinho and Nuno. Last season, there were no fans in the stadium to express their dissatisfaction. When they were due to return, Mourinho was gone. If Villa take us apart on Sunday, the difference will be audible and Levy isn't going to wait for things to get toxic. If there is one thing that Daniel doesn't **** around with, it's getting rid of coaches when the fans are about to get their torches and pitchforks out. Our fans are pretty much loyal to a fault. Daniel and Enic count on it and they won't push their luck by backing a coach when the fans start booing. Looking at our forthcoming fixtures, I can see Levy appointing a new manager in advance of the January window, quite easily. Whether it makes any significant difference...?
It was notable that, in March, both Alasdair Gold and Dan Kilpatrick started posting articles about the ubermensch losing the dressing room, IIRC on the same day It's likely the club briefed them to
Jeeez they talk some right bollox don’t they epic line from the Bible before he does **** all in the next game.
I think if people - like myself - thought their was a plan in place that he was trying to implement they’d be more open to giving him time. The bloke however already looks bereft of ideas. It seemed so inevitable to many of us he wasn’t the right choice, especially as he’s a poor man’s Jose… **** knows what the club (Paratici) was thinking. Smartest thing we can do is sack him now to give the new manager time to assess and get a signing or two in in January, whilst hopefully selling Dele, Winks, Ndombele and Lo Celso for a bag of chips each in the process.
https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...no-espirito-santo-time-tottenham-b957679.html What are we trying to achieve here? What is he trying to implement? I don’t expect 6 wins out of 6 but I expect reactions. Conceded 6 in the last 2 so let’s make sure we don’t do it again. BOOM get slapped for 3 goals in half an hour against the Goons. Sorry Nuno lad, you’re achieving **** all with Poch’s/Jose’s/Mason’s old boys especially when they lack professionalism Bye bye in advance
