Remember Sterling's even more perfect pass to set him up with the opportunity. He had to do something right in the match.
I'm not even going to slag. I just don't understand why it's not simply country first and one plays for say 45-60mins at 100% in these conditions and then the other comes on and gives it 100%. It was the same back with the scholes, Gerrard, Lampard debate...stop trying to squeeze two in and enjoy the fact you have two (or 3) players that can play the same role equally as well while alternating rest periods for each... Strange management culture at England over the years...
Yes I would play him in the centre behind Sturridge and move Sterling out to the right. Won't happen though
Why not? I think its quite likely. Our tactics on Saturday were done purely to counter Italy. Uruguay shape differently to Italy.
Remember Rooney's corner in the 70th odd minute... people across the world are still wondering where it will land, all worried like for an asteroid strike.
They are also waiting for the other 3 players who did the same thing down that side too. The pitch was shocking. Even the silky italians avoided areal crosses down that flank and it was mentioned days before the game that it was painted green and was basically a bog.
can you guys give some context. if you drop rooney do you play barkely... or in other words if you drop rooney are you keeping welbeck in... who's worse? (IMO)
Anyone with sense is dropping Gerrard. Unfortunately the management have no sense. all the talk of Rooney yet it was gerrard who was awful. Complete passenger all game and had absolutely no impact on the game at all. Hes the cap'n though so apparently he has to play and allow whoever we play to twinkle their way through our invisible midfield.
Just dont get why restrict ourselves to 1 up top simply because some say 2 up top doesnt work. Well it does, as has been shown in this world cup.
I'm thinking we'll start the next game with exactly the same team and formation.. I have been known to make bad predictions occasionally though
