ALLEGEDLY Neil Taylor has been offered a 5year deal at NUFC 8K basic, rising to 25k following 40 appearances for the Toon To me that would indicate 2 maybe 3 years before he would activate the increase If the boy had any sense he would accept an increased offer from the Swans and play the next season/seasons and appreciate that should he shine he would be in a far stronger position to command any seniority at a premiership club He could spend 5 years up north and never be seen! PRATS----17k per week at Bolton----sorted in January and he told the squad every day since then but did not have any malice and genuinely loved Swansea and the fans DeVries--offered a deal initially 2k short of Wolves offer-did not renegotiate as his family wanted a 'big' city life and wanted 'wag'status=deal done in Jan! Guys-i stuck it all on one thread sorry-easier to let you know
who , sorry flipant remark I know but I am disappointed when ever a player leaves under some sort of a cloud
Good info if true... although a jump from 8 to 25k seems ridiculous! Surely it would be a staggered thing, like a 20% increase year on year as long as he makes "X" amount of appearances a year?
But it's only around 10 miles from Birmingham, the UK's second biggest city. Lost of people prefer what big cities have to offer, so I don't blame his wife for wanting to live there. Family is much more important than football, so good on Dorus for putting his family first. Does anyone know what wages most Swans players are on? £8K seems like League Two wages to me. Surely Taylor would be better off playing every week for Swans and showing how good he is. He could then get a great offer from another club. Or he could be stuck on the bench for 5 years earning £8k.
To go back to young Taylor. I believe his contract expires next year, hence the Geordie enquiry, so, should he go now and we get some money, or, if he stays he'll go for free AGAIN another one!!!! BR says he only wants players who want to be at Swansea, he obviously is a money grabber that wants to move on. If he stays for the year, how many games will he play? I think get rid of him now, we want people who want to play for us.
Ditch Taylor for whatever we can get & move on . If Taylor's lawyer can't make headway , Newcastle have stated their lawyers will . Ditch him !!
Agree we should ditch Taylor now he was good last year but nowhere near the best left back i've seen. I'm still very surprised that Dorus has gone to Wolves where he will be no 2 to Hennessey!
very strange move by Dorus, time will tell if he has made the right decision however i think some players just want the money and dont care if the in the reserve side or sitting on the bench
To be honest i don't care anymore about DVD or Pratley. They have gone to other clubs so bye bye. Taylor needs to be sold for as much as we can get for him. His head has been turned. Dont feel his heart will be in it. Get what we can and buy a fullback who is ready for the premier league. Lets just put all our efforts in supporting who comes in. all those who think the grass is greener and just F*** off.
So is his £1m release clause press speculation or true? I've read various bits and it's not very clear.
It's not a release clause, but let him talk once a 1million bid was made if whats come out is true. Pretty stupid clause, but we rejected the bid so it can't be a standard "release clause".
Hacker-my original post was a very brief outline and I may have been misleading by saying the deal was done in Jan Let me explain-- Nothing was signed in Jan DDV became aware in Jan of Wolves interest and from then on had no intention of re-signing for us though As soon as Wolves secured their Premiership status he was gone-the play-offs only delayed things-he had no intention of staying He did NOT go for the money, those closest to him wanted the move to a big city and were happy to go In a nutshell-done in Jan!
We bumped into ddv in strensham services on the way back from forest and his demeanour was completely different to previous such encounters. He was insular and unwilling to engage in conversation. It could have been "just one of those things", but with the benefit of hindsight I wonder if it just felt uncomfortable for him, knowing what was really happening behind the scenes. We'll never know. Ah well, dont get splinters in the molineux dorus.
