    Referee: Michael Salisbury

Tony from Hartlepool was supposed to ref the game but has been taken off for some reason
they now have put a single Premier League game Ref in charge (his last game was back in November)
mainly, I believe because they are also using VAR for this game
VAR ref is Peter Banks (the one that awarded Maddison a pen for no contact)

Who sold out, Magdad? Or was it Ben or CC?

No, I guess it was Chippy. Once a turncoat always a Mackem. Was it Chippy? Was it?

Can't we just buy the FA Cup instead of playing the games?

Need to play the final mate, I have a non refundable room at a ****e premier inn due to @Sheikh_of_Araby giving misleading information. He will be forgiven once Vlahovic signs.

We will show Sunderland how to sell out a ground against Div 3 opposition.

I agree with this. This season we just don’t need a cup run. We could do without the games.

Sod off!! Confidence comes from these games too mate. We’re bringing in fresh legs and faces, imagine if we get a couple of good draws, and win our next 3 in the league? Would you really not want to be in R5 in a month or so and in 15th?

This. Get the team winning against lower level opposition and then take that confidence into the big games. Will be useful to bed in Trippier and hopefully another with the team too

I want to stay in the premier league and fact is the possibility is we don’t get past round 5 anyways. And pick up injuries to possibly new players which in my opinion would be mental.

With the level of players people have been talking about on the transfer window thread then we should absolutely go for it in the Cup. I know winning it would be a massive long shot, but why not go for it for the unlikely chance of being able to offer summer signings some European football next year!!

Can't believe people are bragging about being world beaters on one thread and then giving up against Cambridge on the next!!

As the Man Utd game showed, we are just as likely to pick up injuries in a league game.

We want a club that tries - but not yet please???

Oh I’m not suggestion we throw the game and if we win and go through fine. Provided it’s not at a cost. The reality is in the longer term we need to stay in the PL.

Plenty of cup runs will follow.

    The PL is priority.

I think one of our more prolific posters is a bit worried about not being able to swallow those salty tears he keeps promising to drink!

We need to stay up and the FA Cup could see us get injured players.

If we stay up we can have a real go at the cups next season

I think everybody should expect players to be rested for this one. Wouldn't play Trippier at all, no need. But I would go with:

Dubravka (let's not **** about in goal)

    Manq - Lascelles - Clark - Dummett

    Hendrick

    Willock - White/Anderson

    Murphy - Stephenson - Almiron

Would 'save' Shelvey, ASM, Joelinton, Fraser.
