Following the success of last season's discount initiative for Newcastle United season ticket holders, Gateshead FC has extended the offer for a further season.

Additionally, the initiative will be extended to Sunderland AFC and both Premiership clubs' season ticket holders will gain reduced entry to Gateshead home games in the Vanarama Conference.

The Heed finished third in the Conference Premier League last season, the club's highest placing since losing Football League status in 1960, before reaching the play-off final at Wembley.

Both Newcastle and Sunderland fans got behind the side in numbers during the play-off games against Grimsby Town and Cambridge United and the club is looking for a continuation of that support.

For the 2014/15 campaign both clubs' fans will gain admission to Gateshead's Conference home games for just £10 as The Heed gun for glory again.

This represents a saving of £5 on matchday adult admission prices.

Attendances are up at the International Stadium and there has been an 80% plus increase in season tickets sales ahead of the new season.

Chief Executive and vice-chairman Brian Waites is keen for four figure crowds to become the norm at Gateshead this season.

"The link-up with Newcastle United last season was a great success and we're delighted to extend the scheme to followers of Sunderland also." said Waites.

"The product at Gateshead is excellent, a winning side playing good football, and we want as many people as possible to get behind the lads.

"Our aim is to get Gateshead back into the Football League. We came very close last season and now we want to go one better.

"Having the backing of Newcastle and Sunderland fans alongside our own famed Heed Army will help us achieve our goal."

Gateshead kick-off the Conference season on Saturday with an attractive home game against Torquay United.

Gateshead fans have exclusive use of the Tyne & Wear Stand where turnstiles will be open from 2pm.

Good bit of marketing by Gateshead, but it's a kick in the stotts for their proper fans.

I don't think so, I think that any extra money that comes into the club, that otherwise wouldn't have, has got a be a good thing,
I think the Gateshead fans would acknowledge that.
To buy a premiere league season ticket and then pay full price for a non league game, I think people just wouldn't bother going,
but the incentive to get their football fix has to be worth it

Know a few fans that don't agree with it.
    Always paid full price myself.
Why should I pay less than my mates.

As they put it, people should be there as Heed fans, not Toon or mackem fans, should be like anyone else and pay full price.
