This is bound to please Jim.. we look to be signing a Balde.

    http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-art...pen-negotiations-to-sign-portuguese-striker/?

t has been reported that Newcastle United have opened talks to sign twenty one year old striker, Amido Balde, from Vitoria Guimaraes.

The 6ft 4in striker has scored seven goals in twenty one appearances this season but is seen as more of a team player than out and out goalscorer..

There has already been past interest from Everton and Spurs for a striker who moved on a free from Sporting Lisbon last summer after going out on loan in both Belgium and Spain.

Valencia are also credited with interest in the player but the reports in the Metro state that Newcastle have supposedly opened negotiations last weekend.

It is further claimed that this could be the start of an ongoing relationship between the two clubs with plans to develop and benefit their academies.

A figure of £5m has been mentioned which would be a very decent deal for the Portuguese club who picked him up on a free only last summer but he wouldn’t be the first young player not to make it at a big club initially.

    http://metro.co.uk/2013/04/04/newca...guimaraes-over-amido-balde-transfer-3584094/?

Newcastle are working on a deal to sign Amido Balde from Vitoria Guimaraes after spending the whole season scouting him.

The Magpies have had representatives at nearly every one of Balde’s matches in the Portuguese Premier League this season, and Alan Pardew has now given the go-ahead to try to do business.

It is thought that Newcastle are ready to offer up to £5million to try to sign the 21-year-old, who also has interest from Tottenham and Everton and was offered a trial at Celtic earlier this year.

Balde is seen as one of the best players in Portugal at present, having developed his game since joining Guimaraes in the summer following several years spent on loan in Belgium and Spain whilst on the books of Sporting Lisbon.

The 6ft 4in striker has scored five goals in 18 matches this season, but has also laid on a host more with his selfless approach to the game catching the eye.

According to reports in Spain, Sevilla recently asked Guimaraes to name their price for the hitman but Newcastle are confident they are in the driving seat after opening negotiations at the weekend.

If the transfer goes through it is seen as the start to a lengthy relationship between Guimaraes and Newcastle that could see the two sides link up in a bid to develop their academies.

    <laugh>

Damn right it pleases me, furthermore if Santon and Taylor were in my state of folical harmony we wouldn't have lost 3-1 last night.

Blokes with hair have got a lot to answer for if you ask me, we've never recovered since Ketsbia left and " Head and Shoulders " was invented.

Paolo Di Canio??? So does that make this lad a Sunderland fan or a socio-political extremist?

Many would call them one and the same...

Could be the right player to compliment Cisse.

8-10 goals a season plus some good knock downs and assists. A threat from set pieces.
