The ever so creative media think it is Groundhog Day and are suggesting that we are back trying to sign Darren Bent. Whilst I have no doubt that this is a shambolic attempt at creative writing from someone, I'd still like to blame Pardew.

So, nice one Pardew. This is clear evidence that Alan is trying to imprint himself on this summers transfer policy - it has Pardew written all over it. We are going to sign average jobbers at best if Pardew usurps Carr as the leading voice on player recruitment. Doom is upon us.

Newcastle have set their sights on Aston Villa and former Tottenham and Sunderland striker Darren Bent after giving up on Arsenal and Liverpool target Loic Remy.

This club totally underwhelms me at times.

Well, most of the time actually.

I never understand when journalists come out with such tripe. Don't they know anything about our club and specifically our transfer policy?! When was the last time we signed a player over 30? This article stinks of bored/lazy journalism.

Expect a whole summer of it.

This would be so deflating, even by our current standards.

Surely he is on a big wage and we would certainly not match that! He will probably prefer to stay at Villa picking up his wage there.

And as others have said he does not fit MA's criteria - worringly though he fits AP's criteria!

Bored journalist comes across an old article, changes the date to 16th May 2014.

A transfer window wouldn't be the same if Darren Bent wasn't allegedly being targeted.

Aw we all already know how the window will go,
We sign nobody before the world cup, opening up an opportunity for the ever reliable excuse as all player evaluations soar.
"We wont have our pants pulled down by anyone" Pards will say, with his pants round his ankles and Ashley behind him tittering like a school girl.
"It's all about value for money and agent fees and the train ticket to get players here, and the mcdonalds that we buy them whilst we negotiate, we just want to be financially sensible" he will say as Mike Ashley brings back Shola, and signs pascal cygan for good measure, on deadline day

Utter nonsense! I think we all know that **** all happens at St James Park on deadline day these days. David Craig now books his annual leave with Sky on deadline day as it's the quietest day of the year for him.
