Newcastle United admit a charge of failing to control their players in last weekend's derby defeat at Sunderland.

A statement on Newcastle's website reads: "The charge relates to the players' reaction to the match official's decision, which saw Sunderland awarded a penalty and captain Fabricio Coloccini issued with a red card, which has since been rescinded.

"The club has admitted the charge but has submitted an application for it to be reassessed due to mitigating circumstances."

Are the mitigating circumstances the fact that their display was so domineering?

More likely that they've had their arses handed to them, for the sixth time on the bounce, despite impersonating Barcelona throughout the match. Gotta be a sympathy vote in there somwhere :)

That sympathy was overturning the last man, off the ball challenge red card.

Define mitigating circumstances in relation to the incident:

    a) Schteve's hair cut
    b) Coloccini's lack of ability & brains
    c) the fact SAFC had won 5 in a row prior to this one

Plenty to get aggy about tbf.

"The club has admitted the charge but has submitted an application for it to be reassessed due to mitigating circumstances."

If a referee issues a red card and a mass brawl ensues, both clubs will be fined regardless of whether or not the decision was correct.

Stupid behaviour anyway. No amount of jumping up and down or the stamping of feet has ever made a referee change his mind even when they`re sending the wrong player off. It simply doesn`t happen.

Unless they`re pleading guilty but insane if course.

McClaren is now claiming that Elliot had the ball in his hands before Coloccini knocked Fletcher over :emoticon-0136-giggl

Mclaren talks in strange accents, his crowns outweigh his actual teeth, the man is in his Derby days flapper mode, bound for failure..

That has to be a misquote smug surely?

For that to be the case Fletcher would have to be goal side of Elliot.

Even True Geordie didn`t claim that one.
