Every word from Nigel Pearson after Bristol City lose to Forest Green Rovers in Carabao Cup
The manager spoke to the media after 6-5 loss on penalties, following a 2-2 draw at the New Lawn

Game management again, Nigel? You'll be so frustrated by that after conceding late on Saturday too.
I’m frustrated to go out because it’s a game we should have won, again. If I’m honest it’s probably a bit more frustrating than the weekend because once we’ve gone from 1-0 down to 2-1 up they didn’t really create or give us any problems.

We were very naïve at the end. If you take it to penalties then anything can happen and we’ve paid a price for that.

What's your view on penalties? Just a lottery or a test of skill?
It’s people dealing with the moment, some people can and some people can’t.

Saikou Janneh did well today and really put his hand up...
He’s very inexperienced and very raw still but he did okay at times today.

How about your centre-backs this evening? Did they do well enough against Jamille Matt, who caused a lot of problems at times?
I thought Tomas [Kalas] was good tonight, he did very well.

And Taylor Moore as well we guess?

No, I said that I thought Tomas did well tonight.

How's Joe Williams doing? He looked very upset when coming off the pitch?

I’ve not had a chance to speak to Joe [Williams] yet, we’ll see him tomorrow.

And one from the weekend, how's Callum O'Dowda doing?

Callum O’Dowda should be okay for the weekend.

What made you select Nahki Wells to be captain tonight, instead of Tomas?

Because I selected him to be captain.

Nothing extra? Has anything else happened behind the scenes?

I wouldn’t share anything with you if there was so it’s a bit of a pointless question.

Twice in a week now [you've conceded late], how can you get that belief going that you can see games out?

We’ve got to make sure that we make enough good decisions on the gameday, it’s as simple as that. You don’t need any luck, you need to manage the game and we need to use our experience. We’ve got enough experience to do that.

Don't tell me we are in for another season of misery, God we make some mistakes, we've gone from a spendthrift, incompetent, inexperienced failure, then the invisible, nice guy to a blunt, miserable, ignorant, egotist, can't Nige just wind his neck in and maybe smile, respect the media and aknowledge the fans.

What a way to run a football club, will we never learn.

I don't mind him being blunt or even rude and stating the bleeding obvious, but managers that generally do so are winners like Mourinho, SAF etc,
And he's right, between them all, against opposition 2 leagues below us, we should have had more then enough game knowledge to see last nights game out.
The reaction from the players and the Manager over the next half a dozen games will be very interesting, and will no doubt come under increasing scrutiny.

Could just be a man who’s blunt, rude and totally peed off with the naivety shown by his defence/team!

Probably a team that cost more than FGR's whole squad and the building of their ground.

You do keep on about the cost of the team...How about a coach being able to coach what we do have.....like LJ did when he first arrived here when we were in dire straits!! :emoticon-0103-cool:

They got him sacked and then got Holden sacked and are on the way to getting Pearson sacked, how many more managers shall we employ before we realise it's the players? how much more evidence do you actually need?

He's bound to be peed off - we all are.
What's he going to do about it is the question.
We need to bounce back against Warnock on Saturday

Funny that R&W - you always seem to refer to playing Warnock's psyche rather than his teams - why is that?

Because Warnock is not about the value of players...as some seem to think at our club....but how to coach with what he has......very good at that is Warnock!!
NB...Still my opinion....but LJ was a few players away from doing just that........just saying!!!

We were all saying at the time, we needed a couple of decent players in midfield and cover at the back with a leader to be a decent team....
All of a sudden......Pearson and co need a full on clear out!!

    Eight promotions
Warnock's reputation is built on eight promotions in his career, including four times taking teams into the top flight – Notts County in 1991, Sheffield United in 2006, QPR in 2011 and Cardiff in 2018 – as well as elevating Scarborough to the Football League in 1987.3 Oct 2020.

    Lee Johnson - Nothing.

Personally I wouldn't want either at our club, I would have loved Cotterill to have had the backing and time to continue.

We always love to beat a Warnock side - it's been part of our culture for many years - I think it started when he was at Palarse in the playoffs - and was cemented by the 'ghost goal' that was 'scored' and disallowed at AG later. Can you picture the amazing, wonderful rant that occurred after that? <laugh><laugh><laugh> Actually, Simon Jordan upstaged Warnock with his own amazing rant on that occasion, calling our club, manager, players and fans all sorts of names!!.
I did read somewhere that Warnock stated that he would like to manage us one day - it's a love/hate relationship and any BCFC vs Warnock fixture has an atmosphere of pantomime around it - whoever he is managing - and our fans in particular keep it alive!.

I think you are confused a little here. We are talking about last nights '30mil let's show we are good enough to get back into contention **** show' and not Saturday's performance spoiled by individual mistakes.

I think we all would after what he achieved in L1, but it was clear he wouldn't change his style and we were heading straight back down, so he had to go. Also, there were some other issues that people have brought up since he left, which to be honest I don't recall hearing at the time, but if true, aligned with poor form and an almost obstinance to change things, he sealed his own fate. He suffered the same fate at Brum, and is now back in L1, like some players, maybe that's just his level now?

This was a bit of a stinker as an answer when asked about TM's performance, does it meam TM is on his way out, another £1.5m wasted.

And Taylor Moore as well we guess?
No, I said that I thought Tomas did well tonight.

(On 25 August 2016, Moore signed for Championship club Bristol City on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £1.5m.)

It's all about opinions, but I wouldn't want him back (for the record I wouldn't want LJ back either).
I loved Cotts and that promotion double-winning season, but I don't believe he can handle the Championship. That's my opinion - but it is also shared by all the Championship club owners too, because, Brum aside, he hasn't been employed at that level since and spent quite some time without a club.
WHY I wonder, if he's so good?
Are all those Championship club owners simply stupid and unable to see what seems to be so clear to a few members of our own fan-base?

Some people point out when certain managers don't have Championship pedigree; well Cotterill is one of those who doesn't, He failed at Forest, failed at us and failed at Birmingham (if a sacking, or NOT getting his club promoted to the Prem is a measure of failure - which it is for some managers).

Nigel Pearson has 'pedigree' - but so did Danny Wilson. Let's hope Pearson's is repeatable. Wilson's certainly wasn't.
