That's not a bad thing... We held a very strong Spurs team.... Bit of a non-descript match....imo. None were the better team, so we held a c'l team to a comfortable draw, who have a better squad by miles............... Not a bad days work really.............. Neither looked threatening, where-as neither looked like conceding. I'm over the moon really with the resolve shown by the team, and mixing and also matching the better teams in the league.
Good result. We had our moments and could have scored on a different day, then again they could have also
If you watched the match on ESPN then it sounds like the man of the match award went to the Ground Staff, must've mentioned the lack of sprinklers/moisture on the pitch a good 10 times! Its actually a good way of stopped a slick spurs team, preventing them from zipping the ball around and slowing them down to your level (no offence in that, but Spurs have to be one of the quickest teams in the league). This game will be forgotten, but the point could be key in both the race for european spots AND your own finishing position (just look at the last game of last season...not bitter...I swear)
I was shocked how ineffective spurs were considering they needed to win. Fairly pleased with a point though but have to feel with a little more oooomf so to speak we could have won. Was disappointed how we set up from our corners, no one on the front and sess at the back post? We made it too easy for Spurs to defend them. Don't know what was wrong with VDV today but he looked like he wouldn't get a game for a pub team. Hats off to Bardo who kept Bale very q. Turner won everything in the air and Killa was composed.
Agree with all of this, especially the about the way we set up from corners - we very rarely look like scoring from these even when the big men come up. Reasonably pleased with the point but part of me is a little disappointed - a sign of having greater expectations than in previous years
Thought we were very comfortable throughout the whole game, Spurs created very ,very little.Only got behind us once, Bale never troubled Bardsley ,Adebayer never troubled Turner, Modric created nil, in fact considering they sure pushing C/L place thought they were very ordinary. Also first time I have ever seen an 80 yard back pass at the SOL.
A fair result no complaints here. I thought Killgalon was superb today, he seems good on the ball as well as decent in the air. We seem a lot more solid at the back when he is in the side.
This and Colback and Bardsley were fantastic, we may not have been great going forward but at the back we look good.
I thought we were the better side for the majority of the game, and can't remember Mignolet having a meaningful save to make...Not a bad game for a 0-0 draw in my opinion...
MONs tactics saving our energy for mondays game. Like comm says end of season game, nobody looked remotely interested.
We were lucky with the clearance off the line but the stray passing is terrible, and we need a Berbatov, Pavlechenko, Yakubu (if Blackburn go down) next season. We are poor up front yet strong at the back one week then the opposite the next. Also we need another Sess or Mclean in midfield to give them a rest like on monday.
Thought we had our tactics spot on yet even more importantly we played as a team - something the same players could not be coached to do for far too many games under SB. It was not a game for the purest - but in reality, if you leave the hype aside - few are, it was an intriguing battle of tactics though- Spurs could not afford to lose hence they looked nervy - Parker had his worst game in a a Spurs shirt today, as did VDV. Satisfied with a point.
