OK SOD is now the coach / manager and that is what we need to accept whether we agree or not.. Of his appointment I would say that the board or JL had a PLAN devious or not to have in place by the end of January a different management structure..based on Saturdays result /s I do not believe any manager / head coach would in less than 24 hours take up an appointment let alone to a club like BCFC who ARE in the mire..especially after having a few "more tasty morsels" profferred in recent weeks! JL seemed to be giving out signals that DM was the man for the advancement of "regrowing" the past structure of youth and developmet etc etc ..... I think had we won or drawn against Leics, something may have happened anyway...SOD arriving in either a first team coach category and DM joining the DOC to advance the alternative plan of younger player advancement.. This would have given DM a chance to learn from a expierienced manager who is by the way "on a rolling contract"...helped possibly get us out of the mire and SOD would have been free to move on when things sorted or got a better offer! LETS FACE REALITY the last couple seasons just havent been good for injuries and players on international duty coming back knackered or injured..at anytime in the past 2 years we could have fielded a team of injured / unfit players..(not that we would, just metaphorically speaking here!) any manager may have struggled...LETS HOPE SOD gets better luck... we have fit players and ADDY COMES BACK EARLY...but I dont he will.. ANOTHER ERA IS ABOUT TO START...THE HANDICAP LEAGUE :- 20 GAMES IN THE PURPLE TAKES ALL...THE TEAMS Huddersfield.....27...-12...33 Wolves............27....-6....32 Ipswich...........27...-21....31 Birmingham.....27....-9....30 Sheff Wed.......27...-12...28 Peterborough...27...-13...25 Barnsley.........27...-15...24 Bristol City......26...-16...22 NEED 7 POINTS AND A GAME IN HAND IS OUR HANDICAP...... WITH only 3 "match's concerning bottom 4 contenders ".. hard to assess but I think safety might be 54/5 points............... we need to play like a top 8 club for the next 20 games, not one trying to avoid relegation
Our game in hand is also Watford at home, which given their form at present looked like a nailed on away win before SOD was appointed and still might do. Hopefully we'll provide a stiffer test for the Hornets in the rearranged fixture. 30 points (ish) are needed from the remaining 20 games so an average of 1.5 points per game is required. ITS A BIG BIG ASK given our form so far this season
Interesting in the interview with JL, that the question was asked as to why the decision was made on Saturday to sack DMc. He answered indirectly by saying that with 20 games to go, something had to change. As he knew there were 20 games to go BEFORE saturday, I would respectfully suggest that there was already a plan in action, and it was not a spur of the moment thing. Or maybe at 5.15pm JL was asking "does anyone have Sean O'Driscoll's number to hand....I think i have lost it....i thought i had saved it into my phone...its on his old CV from 15 months ago, but that number has Dean Saunders voice messge on it....someone try Directory Enquiries will they...and yes, it is bloody urgent !!"
I dont think for one moment there was not a plan, the rolling contract is the thing..SOD on a hiding to nothing..as a DOF /COACH.....keep us up /help keep us up and he is a hero...miss staying up by a point or 2 (he did the best of a bad a job) and is still a hero, and can walk next Christmas if a better offer / team comes along..un blemished, lets hope he is a HERO in the first instance
I think the point concerned was not the defeat to Leicester but the manner of the defeat coupled with the way the team had played in the previous couple of games, from all accounts they were abolutely pathetic against Leicester in the first 45 mins and that decided the board that a change was needed as playing like that there was no chance of survival, had the team shown some fight in that game DM might still have been in charge.
even so still think SOD would be at ASHTON TODAY DM straight into a job hey thats rich......ummm no pun intended but he is now!
Come on guys, surely SOD was put on stand by for when the Inevitable was to happen......He has already been interviewed so that was straight forward and he was out of a job. A quick call a few weeks ago telling him to dust off his suitcase and be ready!! As to "had the team shown some fight in that game DM might still have been in charge." comment....that has to be a joke right? I didn't see many teams Del put out that showed ANY fight..
No he can't (in theory), it s a ROLLING 1 year contract - i.e. it ceases a year from the day that notice is given...
Cardiff and Palace at the start of the season when it looked like he might have got the balance right, but since then it has seemed to get worse with almost every match.
Notice is given by both sides at the start of each year to re employ or to leave.that way neither will get stuffed for masses of compo
