Now Warnock goes after QPR buddy Clint Hill for Leeds Clint Hill Published on Wednesday 16 May 2012 09:06 LEEDS manager Neil Warnock has retrained his sights on Queens Park Rangers left-back Clint Hill and looks set to mount a charm offensive. Leedsâ move in for Hill comes after QPR staved off relegation from the Premiership on the final weekend of the season. Like Leeds, the London club has now embarked on a programme of rebuilding its squad, and Hill is thought to be unlikely to figure in the new line-up. Warnock and Hill worked together at QPR and before that at Crystal Palace, where Warnock signed him from Stoke City. QPR manager Mark Hughes said: âThe club wasnât ready for the Premier League but we are moving very quickly. Thereâs no way weâll be in this situation again in my time here.â Hill, 33, was yesterday named the playersâ player and fansâ player of the year at Rangers. He could now be invited to join a Leeds back line which began to take shape with the recent capture of centre-back Jason Pearce. Leeds remain in the running for the signature of Portsmouthâs Joel Ward, a £400,000 target, with Warnock looking to conclude the deal before the week is out. Warnock is following through with his promise to pursue quick signings in the summer transfer window and is he one of a number of managers looking closely at out-of-contract Derby County midfielder Paul Green
Would you blame Warnock for pursuing him? Very good player at that level and great character to have around.
Big decision for Hill. At 33 he might be able to play some part in the Prem for another year or maybe 2 at the very most. If he joins Leeds, even if they are promoted, it is doubtful that he would play in the Prem again.
I think he'll be offered a one year extenstion and stay. I hope so anyway becuase a 2 or 3 year contract at Leeds would be tempting I am sure.
I just think Hill is too important a player to just write off because of his age. I'm sure we'll be looking to bring in a top centre-back but Hill would still be important back-up both as a sub and a squad member. As it's Bates' who'll be writing any cheque I'd put a decent fee on his head. All told, who would be surprised Warnock would want him?
No need for the sun mate , wikipedia is fine. After Leeds' 2–1 victory over Derry's former club Crystal Palace at Elland Road in February,[citation needed] manager Wise revealed that one member of his squad, who has become known as 'the mole' had given United's teamsheet to the Palace management.[citation needed] Though Wise did not reveal who he suspected it was, he did assure that the player in question would not play for Leeds United again.[citation needed] It was well documented at the time that this was Derry.
Dave MacIntyre had Clint being offered a new QPR contract yesterday! Really hope Clint stays - we should be keeping the core of our team and he, Derry and Jamie are that.
sooper , don't be blinded by the loyalty this did happen and was a big scandal at the time, i'm sure Shaun would admit it if you asked him. All i'm saying is under this cloud he would never return to Leeds .
Yeah - Warnock rated him so much at QPR he loaned him out, kept Hall and Connolly, and brought in Gabbidon!
anyone here the clint interview on bbc94.9 last night, well he came across that he wants to stay & his contract doesn't expire untill later in the year & would gladly sign a contract if offered & he's over the moon with team & is settled in london & doesn't want to move, he was saying that big things are going to happen & wants to be part of it which is great news. totally over the moon at those awards he got & also said regarding there winning goal that none of the back four new bolton had drew untill mackie & swp came over & told them, so mh give him a new contract.
