Heard on Radio Norfolk that the Peterborough Chairman Darren (cant remember his surname) has said on his twitter site that Peterborough tried to make a move for Cody McDonald but could not agree a price with Norwich for him. WHAT A SURPRISE! Having just got £3m for CMS they should be loaded with cash and be able to pay the asking price instead of trying to get him on the cheap! Perhaps they should have waited and done a player plus cash deal with Norwich, where City could have paid a reduced price for CMS but also let Peterborough have Cody.
Absolutely. Ironically, if Neil Doncaster had still been around, doubtless this deal would have gone through (largely on MacAntony's terms). But to Posh - and any other chairmen eyeing our players and thinking NCFC are a little rural 'soft touch', don't f*** with David McNally or you'll be sent away, tail between legs That will teach him to move the goalposts at the last minute over the CMS deal back in March. Twat.
Here's what he actually said :- "Have tried to buy CMD for 6 weeks.Norwich want over 550 grand. Dont think he has ever played for them..Good luck to them with that price." You wouldn't find Lambert discussing prices etc on a social networking site ! Plus, I think that after last season's exploits at Gillingham, Cody is easily worth that.
"Dont think he has ever played for them..Good luck to them with that price." good to do your research before sending (i assume) a tweet - i think some people think it's not a real communication using twitter. I agree Cromer on that valuation i'd expect £400-500k
Indeed. He scored 26 (?) goals for Gillingham and almost got them into the playoffs. Plus Posh have just got £3m for CMS and the deal to take Sam Baldock there collapsed, so they've spent virtually nothing.
I dont think £500k is unreasonable by any means. Like you say, he should do his research and not expect any favours from us after acting so unprofessional throughout the CMS offer.
