can the 2 players i came on here and slated only 4 days ago kick on from this or is league one their level. I'm delighted for both to score but it needs some perspective we were 3-1 up against a team 53 places below us.
Oldham were well up for it in the first half, it was their cup final according to some. If it's ever gonna happen for either or both of them then it has to start somewhere, it may as well be here.
I hope so as a red even though i was told im not a fan of the last 28 years (because i called it as it is they are flops) i want every red to succeed from torben piechnik to sean dundee to istvan kozma (google them the pricks that doubt my alliegence)
Fair to say we will put it into perspective but lets hope they can both produce more of that. At the end of the day in a prem game Downings goal would have been cleared a long time before it ever came to him but equally Mandys finish would've graced any game. They've proved **** all yet but hopefully they can kick on from here
Taking a chance is what it is, he scored, they scored so it will add confidence to the individual no matter what the whole picture is, Oldham were very good until we got some confidence, they could have been 3 1 up with a bit of luck after 30 minutes. Downing gets stick for having no assists, as I read in a post started on the manc board, of course the OP in that one doesn't know assists are getting the ball to soemone and they score, combined with our strike failures his assists were always going to be bad, he has created quite a few chances for players this season, more than Nani but he cannot help it if someone doesn't finish it off, when he is assisting plenty I can forgive a lack of goals.. for a while anyways That will do Carroll good no doubt there. Glad to see ther kid get one.
