You are tipped to land Sturridge on a season long loan and if you do we will fall out, I want him.

So tell that to Pardew and Ashley, I will be well pissed off if you get him.

Newcastle United will this summer look to make a move for Chelsea youngster Daniel Sturridge as the club’s board continue to look to plan for the future. Alan Pardew has been promised funds, albeit limited, to help improve the St James’ Park squad and the Magpies will test the water with a move for the England Under 21 international.

Having lost Kevin Nolan to West Ham the club source has stated that the club will not look to offer long term deals to players nearing, or already in, their 30s and this was one of the reasons they opted to allow their club captain to move to Upton Park.

Chairman Derek Llambias and owner Mike Ashley have seemingly angered a large section of the club’s support having thus far not invested much of the £35m banked from the sale of striker Andy Carroll to Liverpool and though the signings of Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux and Demba Ba have shown intent, the fact that all three additions arrived on free transfers has irked many of the Toon Army faithful.

Newcastle United will look to lure youngster Daniel Sturridge with the promise of regular first team football, something the 21 year old former Man City man may crave after his successful stint on loan at Bolton last term, during which time he netted an impressive eight goals in 11 Premier League starts. The Birmingham born starlet is currently fourth choice starter at Stamford Bridge with the likes of Didier Drogba, Fernando Torres and Nicolas Anelka all ahead of him in the Blues pecking order.

Whilst Newcastle United are initially looking to bring Sturridge in on a season long loan deal they may also be open to purchasing the player outright if the West London club opts to cash in on the striker, although a lot could depend on when a new manager is named to replace the outgoing Carlo Ancelotti.

Would love it, but if we did get him permanently, whats the mooted asking price? ive heard things from 20mil to 10mil bandied around. 20 mil is a little steep, but hey, he is english, scored a bit, surprised he isnt costing 35million!!

I wouldn't mind just taking him on loan for the season providing the fee and his wages are reasonable. However I imagine he'll be pretty expensive so I expect we'll be looking at a cheaper alternative from the French league

Given the prices for other U21 Englishmen, anything less than 20 million would seem like a deal, even allowing for the overinflated prices.

I dont see the problem with buying Sturridge for an over-inflated price, seeing as we sold Carroll for a ridiculous fee.

£15 MILLION is what I would pay for him max. Hes a cracking player with more technical ability and would slot in quite nicely with the players we will have around him so that we can play decent football on the ground. It looks like Pardew is trying to build a Keegan-esqe team but with the added benefits of protection in Tiote and Cabaye to cover the defence...

These players are similar to players like Speed and say Batty but with more technical ability.

If we get Sturridge.. on loan or permanent signing next season I am very happy with this:-

    Tiote / Cabaye

    Jonas/Marvaeux Jonas/Marvaeux

    Ben Arfa

    Ba Sturridge

This is a good technical forward line with good defensive cover.

Looking forward to the new season!

As long as we can agree a fee this summer in a loan to buy deal then go for it, if we dont agree the fee and he has a great season they will double the price. with AVB about to take the job I think Sturridge will be surplus to requirements

I'd be buzzing if this came off, means we wouldn't need to blow £10m on overrated dross like Erdinc.

Could be possible with Chelsea linked with Moutinho and Falcao who will cost £61million between them, Sturridge is the one of the more valuable players they have that they would cash in on.

Ashley will know this and hopefully tries to exploit it.
