.. and got me voice back from Saturday and having looked at other threads, I notice many talking about the same thing... our inability to keep the ball in midfield. I don't want to seem like a moaner - but to back Saturday up we have to keep the ball better. Now Faurlin, the best passer of a football at the club, is on loan - how do we do this? Anyone any ideas? COYRRRRRRRRSSSS!!!!!!!!!! (OK. Nearly calmed down.)
-------------------Cesar------------------ Fabio---------Samba------Hill-------Traore -------------Jenas------Mbia------------- Townsend--------Taarabt----------Hoilett -----------------Remy------------------- All of the front 6 are comfortable in possession apart from Mbia.
They have all played a part in recent games so how comes our possession stats remain so abysmal? It's not the ability to run with the ball that's in question here its a) the business of making yourself available to receive the ball b) being able to pass with a modicum of accuracy. This kind of link up play is what the likes of Park and Granero are meant to do.
I doubt Park has it in him. I think Granero had it, but seemed to loose it after our first 7 or 8 games.
They haven't played together in this formation. Taarabt would be the main link up player. I think it would work, but I expect to see Harry start with the same team against Sunderland that started against Southampton.
Thats a bit too attacking for my liking. Would rather start Park than Townsend just for some tackling and backtracking. That would be my team if we are chasing the game with 20-30 to go. As for Saturday, Saints pressed up with their midfield and FBs leaving it virtually impossible to pass (or dribble) through, possibly thinking Taarabt would play but it left them horribly exposed to the long ball. I dont think Sunderland will play the same, they are more likely to sit back a bit and be happy with a draw which should help us keep the ball.
