Now is the time for reflection guys, a time to reflect on just how far we have come in an incredible 10 years! From the brink of expulsion from the league system, to 11th in the best league in the world! Forget the detractors who have tried to belittle our massive achievement by saying this was the poorest PL season in history, it wasnât!! PL clubs crap in Europe? Chelsea have just won the Champions League! You can keep Serie A and the Bundesliga, our league is the most exciting in the world â title won in injury time FFS! There is a reason why the PL is the most watched league in the world â it is because it is the best! And we are a massive part of it; us, little old Swansea! Many âexpertsâ said we would beat Derbyâs record low points tally â we survived comfortably! It was said that our brand of football would be found out in the top flight, but we stuck to our total football philosophy and claimed some huge scalps along the way! Our style was even touted as the future for British football! They said we couldnât win away from home â we did! And we did it in style on countless occasions (Fulham anyone!!!) They said we couldnât possibly survive in the PL given our budget, but we did, and beat some teams along the way whose spending power we can only dream of!!! They said we would have to spend big to survive in this league, but Brenda has stuck with the team that got us here and just added a few players and loanees â our magnificent Jacks have raised their game and looked totally at ease in this division!! And a special mention should go to the magnificent Michel Vorm â without a first choice keeper after Doris committed career suicide during the Summer â Supervorm joined us a fortnight before the start of the season and instantly looked like he had been playing for us for his whole life! His contribution between the sticks has been a massive factor in ensuring that we will still be in the PL next season! Every single minute of this season has been superior to anything I have experienced as a Jack bastard! It has been better than Toshâs time in the top flight â following the Swans has always been a bit of a rollercoaster ride, but this season has eclipsed any other in our illustrious history! Hollywood scriptwriters couldnât make up a more unbelievable story â was prepared to stand up and celebrate the life of Besian on the 40th minute at Wembley, turned to my bro on the 39th minute to prepare for it, then his best friend Dobbie scored a goal that was a fitting tribute and negated the celebration that was planned! That goal was for you Besian!!! It says a lot for the team spirit that our players accepted the trophy clad in their Besian T-Shirts! Was a wonderfully poignant moment and a wonderful tribute to a player who promised so much but whose life was cut short in such a cruel fashion! And so here we are, mighty Swans â another season in the top flight â and my season ticket must be the best purchase I have ever made!
