YEP article with Warnock and it sounds to me like the deal is almost done. Here's a bit of cut and paste for you Warnock told the YEP: âWhoever comes in will not throw money at it like at Man City. They will come in and look at it and while I think they will support the manager, I donât think there will be any stupid money thrown away. âThatâs never been my policy anyhow. You just want the freedom to spend realistically to try and be successful in this division. âI think anybody coming into Leeds will want to support the manager and whoever comes in, Iâm sure they will. Likewise, I think itâs got to be right for the chairman as well and Iâm hopeful everything will be sorted. Obviously, the sooner the better for me. âAs it stands, Iâm talking to a number of players and Iâm optimistic we can get some more in. âIt has been difficult to get the targets over the line, Iâve got to say, but thereâs been so much going off with the due diligence and court case this week. âItâs been frustrating in one respect, but I understand there are only 24 hours in a day. Itâs been difficult for (chief executive) Shaun Harvey, in particular, because heâs had to deal with a lot of issues. âBut the due diligence is still going on and the chairman is positive and so is Shaun, so I just go along and get on with my job.â While working on sealing deals for a number of players expected to be right in the first-team starting mix next season, including Portsmouth duo Luke Varney and David Norris and Leicester Cityâs Luke Peltier, Warnock is also looking at covering his bases, squad-wise.
Warnock would have walked weeks ago, and has said so, so its too late now as he's decided to stay and do it with us
Sorry Tommy, he maybe Colin Wan&er, but he's our Colin Wan&er. Given his reputation for getting teams promoted, no new chairman or owner in their right mind would get rid of him at this stage of the season.
Its obvious he's been told by the new owners that he will be backed, but with just enough to get us out of the division.
Hope your new owners minted - Colin spent £100M in 2 seasons getting QPR up - and he isn't signing anywhere near that quality at the moment In fact - as it stands, your team is worse than last seasons!
I read that earlier and too was heartened by it. Whatever you think about Warnock, he is a straight talker. He revealed more info in those few lines than we've been fed over the past two months by the club, LUST, YEP or anyone
i hope i'm wrong, but i can see warnock making a success of leeds, top 8 finish perhaps this season and possibly promotion a year after......
The season Warnock took over their wage bill went from £11m to £29.7m They made net losses of £25M IN 2009/10 AND £27M IN 2010/11 Its all here http://www.wearetherangersboys.com/forum/showthread.php?131681-2011-Accounts http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...cost-of-joining-the-Premier-League-elite.html http://qprreport.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/qprs-2011-accounts-now-out.html
Net debt of 56.1 million, up from 39.1 last year. Well worth a read actually. We spent 7 mil on players last season to get us up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 7 mill, not bad at all.
Shocking when you think about it mate - criminal that they didn't go up the season before spending so much!!
You can't blame him for any of 09-10. It wasn't his squad and he made few/no signings after joining in March - his task was basically to avoid relegation in that two-month period and he was successful. You said "Colin spent £100M in 2 seasons getting QPR up". Well that's rubbish. The one full season he had to get them up (i.e. 2010-11), he spent £29.7 million, as you quoted. Less than a third of £100m, although admittedly too much for my liking. I think £15-20m is a healthy amount for a club of our size, in this environment, to be spending. You're wheeling out net losses to try make it look worse? Do me a favour. I do agree that the signings so far have been a mixed bag, but he's had to undergo the turbulence of A) the dreadful cashflow in the last days of Bates where he couldn't even pip the Nigels to Joel Ward and B) the takeover, which presumably brings a certain degree of confusion about the new owners' vision, transfer aspirations and bugetary demands. So you can't expect the ambitious, first-team signings he'll be desperate to get until things are completed and made public. I wasn't impressed with Warnock's management at the back end of last season, but that's probably due to him not being as talented a manager as Grayson so he looked poor in relation to what we'd been accustomed to watching. It's too early to judge him on this summer yet, let alone how we'll fare next season.
Course not - the window was closed - he got well busy when it opened though by signing Jamie Mackie, Leon Clarke, Paddy Kenny, Sean Derry, Clint Hill, Bradley Orr, Adel Taraabt, Rob Hulse, Tommy Smith and Kyle Walker (on loan) pre-season with Nigel Quashie the only player to leave!!
