The World cup is over and now we can focus on everything to do with the new season, however I am quite concerned that despite other clubs having some activity we appear to have done nothing.

Now I know this has been the way we have done business in the past but when you consider where we have ended up because of it, it leaves our lack of communication somewhat questionable.

This is Bristol City FC a huge roller coaster of a ride.
It suprises me how lesser clubs pick up good signings and we just sit back and wait and wait and wait.

Does it make any sense that as a club that says it is committed to a stronger future and sustained growth sits back and does nothing year after year? Perhaps they are waiting for the Jan transfer window when they are in the bottom 4 to make a move. Beggars belief!

Cotts also said that we may have to wait for Championship sides to take who they want - sounds like other League 1 sides are in the same boat

Would be nice to get one or two in before the first day back to pre-season training (which I thnk is a week on Monday?)

Sheffield Utd who are obviously taking the new season very seriously as one of the main title/promotion favourites are also doing business early to get the best preparation.

But down here in the sticks its business us usual and nothing happening. If things go to plan we'll wait until the start of the season, or just before, then we'll go out an sign a load of strangers, and wait until Xmas before they gel.

They won't be top 12 though.

People need to stop panicking. We have 2 players signed already, Think of it that way. If the club could go out and get every player they wanted straight away then they would but they can't!

If you mean Mark Little we'd be better off with the actor of the same name from Neighbours if you look at all the rumours... <whistle>

Don't see any reason to get excited about signing him based on his history.

I do. The Peterborough fans didn't want to lose him and the proper fans were gutted he didn't sign. He's a solid RB who is proven at this level. So what he injured Skuse a few years back, wasn't done deliberately. Shawcross snapped Ramseys leg in half not so long ago but would bite your hands off for someone like him!

No one is happy, Lansdown's ****, now it's season break get your wallet out Steve please.

England's ****, but lost by one goal not really outplayed by Italy (ordinary team but won the tournament 4 times) Uruguay born again football team. But nope let's look at the negatives.

The glass is half full or half empty it's your choice.

You could be like me, sat here watching the wife feeling excitement and passion during a major comp. Something I've never experienced and doubt I ever will.

May I remind you shiny that the Brighton supporters kicked off about losing El-Abd and look what he did for us. Sorry to rub it in ROD but I experience the ultimate England performance at Wembley in 66 and nothing else has come close so I suppose that's why I am a glass half empty kind of guy when it comes to the dross that the national squad pour out of that same half empty glass for each performance. So sad that we have to witness it time after time.

Its your penance for being an Englishman

Where were you in 1990 Inver ?
It can happen, but its all about the players, and we are in a major transition of the sell-by-date football of StevieG, and the sleek, new, hopefully passing side of the bright new things.
Don't forget Spain had decades of underachievement until a real golden generation appeared, and that gave them 6 years of world domination (as was the case with France).
So it can happen if the grass roots of the game are correctly directed
