Two more points dropped yesterday But these two were bigger, by far, With Watford and ´Boro both winning, they now Move gradually off our radar And those below also picked up So any more slips we now make, Could encourage them unnecessarily So that our top six spot´s at stake This scenario was always Likely, with it being so tight, It doesn´t take much over two or three games To lose what has just been put right Naturally all is not lost But winning´s the name of the game, And the sooner we start doing it again, The sooner we´ll stay in the frame Neil I´m sure isn´t best pleased At how these last two have panned out, But I´d be surprised if he loses the plot And now is not the time for doubt But now we´re reliant on those Above us to help in our cause, Not an ideal situation at all If we´re hoping for those ´auto doors´. I almost feel like hibernating for the next 5 weeks (maybe 7). It's horrible not being top and running away with the league
I must be odd- I love the twists and turns of this league- I'll look forward to the play-offs, confident that NCFC can beat any other team in this league. It's far more fun travelling to games, knowing there is a good chance of winning and when the team goes behind, that they are capable/likely to turn the game around. Much better than going to watch Norwich in the North West when in the PL.
I´m sure there are plenty of paying customers who feel like that, but as a non-paying exile, I´m only interested in seeing us back in the Premier League, and seeing us stay there - and I have to say, that the Play-offs are an absolute lottery, where anything can, and usually does, happen. - Not for me I´m afraid!
I will remain in two minds about promotion to the PL- to watch the team scrape to safety or maybe even mid table mediocrity, much more fun to be battling to win something.
Yes, I know that´s how many fans look at it, and fans do have to be mentally prepared for the life the Premier League offers, but for the long-term future of the club, it´s the only place to be, staying here, even if we are battling to win something, unless we actually do, is ultimately going to weaken the club.
I agree about the need to be in the PL, for a myriad of reasons- it's just not as much fun!! I'll be disappointed if Norwich don't achieve promotion, and hope they do it to continue the progress of the club. It means we won't get to beat Ipswich home and away next season, or do the double over the top placed team (well one never knows)
I have to admit that when Huddersfield went 2-1 up I turned off and went to bed very disappointed. To see that we scored in 90 + 8 to get a draw felt ike a win
I know, that´s the point I was making about being mentally prepared, some fans just can´t take that side of it. Personally, just staying in the Premier League each year is an achievement in itself, and that would do me, at least for the first 3 or 4 years, then hopefully one could set slightly higher sights. But that´s all rather in the future at the moment, we need to put this little wobble right first.
...and then I´m afraid, when I looked and saw that both Watford and ´Boro had won, it felt like 2 pts lost again
It's not unreasonable to think that a club of our size and stature could become an established top flight side once again, look at Southampton
I don't think our present owners have pockets quite as deep as the owners of Southampton- I think (I might be wrong) that the owners invested more than £60million in the club since they were a league 1 side- loans changed to equity etc.
I would say with luck, we could become an established lower to mid-table club, which again, would be perfectly good enough for me.
