Our fixtures in November make interesting reading and may go some way to dictating whether we can sustain our position as leaders in the run up to Xmas. We host Oldham on the 1st, travel to Swindon on the 15th, entertain Preston at home on 22nd and travel to Peterborough for the live Sky game on 28th. There are some juicy games in this tranche of matches. If we can continue to beat our closest rivals like we did with MK Dons we may still be top dogs.
IT WILL BE, add in our games for OCTOBER, besides away to Barnsley on the 25th the other fixtures are all game changers **** orient v PNE **** SWINDON V PNE GAMES **** are catch ups which means the table will be based on even stevens... City v Chesterfield Chesterfield v Sheffield Chesterfield v Swindion**** Chesterfield V Oldham City v Bradford Bradford v Sheffield Oldham v Bradford Coventry v City Oldham v Coventry Coventry v Peterbro Peterbro v Oldham MKD v Rochdale **** Swindon v Rochdale Indeed the smoke will have cleared and the leagues top 10 should see it through to be there or thereabouts at the death
Are we good enough? Yes Are we consistent enough? Not yet How will we cope with personnel changes due to injuries which will surely come? One or two should not upset us but more may do so. Yet promoted clubs rarely end the season with the same eleven that started in August/September. Joe Jordan first paired Rennie and Shelton in central midfield in October. And IMO that was the catalyst that got us promoted. In 1954-55, Tommy Burden arrived in October and Mike Thresher broke into the side at the same time. Jimmy Rogers got switched from right wing to centre forward around Christmas and Arthur Milton came with only 15 games to go. And remember this was a side that had gone 13 unbeaten at the start of the season. So where and when will our team change occur to cement us in the top two for the rest of the season? If change does come, will it take us all by surprise?
