Notts County v Bristol City: Talking tactics. please log in to view this image STEVE Cotterill's teams are always highly organised and tough to break down. They are proving hard to beat again this season and are undefeated in four matches, a run they will look to extend at Meadow Lane. Cotterill is blessed in the fact he has a number of options available to him which means he can play several different ways. In Aaron Wilbraham he has the height to go long and in the speed and industry of Kieran Agard has the option to play in the channels. The former Arsenal player Jay Emanuel Thomas (above) gives them creativity too. It all depends which way Cotterill wants to play which will probably be a concoction of balls into the channel and patient build-up. Notts will have to be at their very best and the midfield battle will prove extremely crucial. He played 4-3-3 against Vale last weekend and it worked incredibly well for the first half. After the break he switched to a two-man strikeforce to keep the ball in the final third much better and he could well do the same again tomorrow. Notts County v Bristol City: Opposition in the spotlight... please log in to view this image Aaron Wilbraham: The former MK Dons forward is a real handful with his physical presence up front. He is the perfect foil for any strike partner given he can hold the ball up and bring others into play. He already has three goals this season to his name, one coming in the win at Sheffield United on the opening day of the campaign. On first impressions, Wilbraham looks like he will be awkward but he is actually a very skillful individual. Notts County v Bristol City: Magpies team news.. please log in to view this image THE Magpies will be without long-term injury victim Jimmy Spencer who is out for the season with cruciate ligament damage. Young midfielder Kyle Dixon is also out because of an ankle injury as is Garry Thompson who has a knee problem. Blair Adams is unlikely to be fit after coming off midway through the first half against Port Vale with a recurrence of a thigh injury. But Notts are boosted by the return of Nicky Wroe (pictured) from suspension while Cieron Keane is also in contention after serving a one-match ban. Danny Haynes could make the subs bench as he continues to make progress on his return from an ankle injury. My work at Notts County has only just begun, says Shaun Derry.. please log in to view this image SHAUN Derry has ruled out a return to Crystal Palace as the Notts County manager insisted his work at Meadow Lane has only just begun. The Magpies chief was this week rumoured to be a target for Eagles boss Neil Warnock who was said to want Derry to join his backroom staff. Given his bond with Warnock, having played for him at QPR and Palace, it has led to intense speculation over the last 72 hours which chief executive Jim Rodwell dismissed as "absolute nonsense". There has been no official approach from Palace, but even if there was, Derry said he would not be interested "When Neil got the job, people looked at the relationship I have with him and the fact I took a lot of advice from him when I took the job here," he said. "There's been no contact and people will speculate, but I've wished Neil well obviously. "He's looking forward to the challenge and I speak to Neil a lot and I've know the chairman Steve Parish since he took over the club four or five years ago. "I suppose that's where the rumours have come from and the fact Neil is looking for a team to help him. "To be involved at Premier League level is my dream, but this is where I am working. "My job has just started. So would I be interested? No, no I wouldn't. "I'm enjoying what I am doing and we are getting there slowly but surely. "I have only just arrived." Derry and his assistant Greg Abbott only have one year remaining on their contracts, a situation which is likely to be addressed this season. The Magpies chief, whose side host Bristol City tomorrow, added: "I am enjoying it here and people will be looking and seeing what we are doing. "I am talking to the club all the time about the future, but speculation is what the whole football world is about. "I'm pleased my name is being mentioned because it shows Greg and I are doing a good job." Elliott appointed City skipper.. please log in to view this image Veteran midfielder to don the armband. Steve Cotterill has appointed Wade Elliott as his new captain. The departure of Sam Baldock to Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday left the armband vacant, but the City boss says he has no qualms about passing on the responsibility to the midfielder he previously managed at Burnley. Elliott, now 35, was signed by Cotterill for the second time in January, initially on loan from Birmingham City, before his contribution to the Robins climbing clear of relegation trouble was rewarded with a one-year deal. When asked of the qualities the new skipper would bring to the role, “honesty, leadership and respect” was the manager’s response. “I think those three things are pretty good to have in a captain,” Cotterill told Bristol City Player. "nbsp;"“There might be times this season where he doesn’t play every game, but the majority of the time he’s going to be in and around it. “He’s a fantastic lad and I was delighted to give him that responsibility. When I spoke to him about it he grasped it with both hands. “He has the total respect of the dressing room and I think Wadey will make a good captain, I have no qualms about that. “We’ve just got to make sure we make the armband a little bit smaller because I think Sam had a bigger bicep than him – and he’ll love me for saying that!” A different style match thread, a once off, if anybody want's to take on the task of being a permanent match day thread master, please let us know.....Sorry if this one is not up to the task but no shiny this week..
