Up next for the Addicks is a tricky looking tie against an in form Notts County side at the Valley this Saturday. The Addicks need to put Tuesday nights disappointing performance in which they lost 2-0 to Colchester behind them and focus soley on Saturdays game. Although County drew their last game on Tuesday night with Tranmere they are coming of the back of 5 wins in their last 7 games having only lost to Hartlepool away during that run.

When Charlton travelled to Meadow Lane for their first away game of the season they managed to come away with all three points after winning 2-1 with goals from Wagstaff and Hayes. Both Charlton goals were scored in the first half of the game with Wagstaff's coming in the 35th minute and Hayes coming in added time in the first half. Notts County were able to pull one back in the second half but this proved to be not enough.

Notts County are enjoying a good season so far and even though they sacked manager Martin Allen in february they have carried on going unbeaten since his departure and have won four of their last five games. They currently occupy the last play off place in league one with 53 points from 35 games and look to be battling it out with Carlisle and Stevenage.

    Charlton's Home Record -
    W10 D6 L1 GF33 GA13 PTS36

    Notts County Away Record - W5 D3 L10 GF22 GA29 PTS18

    Top Three Goalscorers-
    Charlton Athletic - Notts County
    18 Wright-Phillips - 15 J.Hughes
    13 Jackson -11 L.Hughes
    9 Kermorgant - 5 Hawley

    Previous Meetings-
Notts County 1-2 Charlton Athletic 13/08/2011
Notts County 1-0 Charlton Athletic 25/02/2011
Charlton Athletic 1-0 Notts County 11/09/2010
Charlton Athletic 1-0 Notts County 04/03/1995
Notts County 3-3 Charlton Athletic 24/09/1994

My team to play against Notts County -

    Hamer

    Solly Morrison Taylor Wiggins

    Wagstaff Hollands Stephens Jackson

    Wright-Phillips Kermogant

    Subs
    Sullivan
    Cort
    Pritchard
    Haynes
    Green

We play as bad as Tuesday night and we could quite easily lose back to back games for the first time this season! Notts County are a good side and are still in their honeymoon period after appointing a new manager. That being said play like we did earlier in the season and we really could dominate this game. It all depends on which Charlton turn up! While I don't think we will lose I don't think we will win so I'm going to go for a 1-1 draw, lets hope I'm proved wrong!

No sooner do I get nervous about a missing match thread than Belvs comes up with the goods yet again. <ok>

I'm still clinging to the view that we played quite well for three quarters of Tuesday night's game. Maybe I was seeing things! However, that doesn't make me any more optimistic about tomorrow. Notts Co are bang in form and I've always thought this would be a tricky one. On the basis that any time I've been pessimistic this season we've won may or may not be a good omen. I think CP should shake the team up a bit but I suspect he will start with our "strongest" line-up. I would keep the back five intact despite Hamer's cock-up but I'd give Holland's a rest and bring in Hughes (my first choice) or (much more likely) Russell. I'd be tempted to give Green a rest just to buck him up a bit but I do think he offers us a real threat when he is on song and we have no real alternative (sorry, but I'm not a Waggy fan and, tempting though it is, I don't think Haynes or Pritchard are wingers). JJ was also poor on Tuesday so there is a case for Evina being given a shot (but it won't happen!). I'd also be tempted to shake up the front two but there is no alternative to Kermorgant than Clarke and I'd prefer to spend the afternoon trying to pee up my own nose than watch him. Maybe Haynes for BWP who was poor on Tuesday but we are playing a delicate game with his confidence at the moment. All of that persuades me that actually the one change (Hollands) is all that is desirable or possible. At all costs we need to avoid another of those "let's play everyone out of positioin and see what happens" experiments.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to lose, which probably means we won't. COYR

I think we should freshen the team up this weekend, would like to see Waggy in for Green, Hughes back in for Stephens (Hollands plays better with Hughes alongside him) and Haynes start up top with Kermo! Maybe Sully in for Hamer? And maybe give the impressive Wiggins a rest for Evina? Even if we did do these changes i think we're still come out comfortable winners. Going for 2-0 Morrison/Kermo

All logical changes Forever, but I'd be loathe to make too many at once. Agree with the Hollands and Hughes argument but Hollands is looking really drained at the moment and I'd like to see what Stephens can do a bit further forward. The missing link in this at the moment is Hayes, but we've sh*t on that parade for the moment!

Oh I didn't clock that one. Err. No! Not a change that I'd be happy about. I've not seen Evina yet. Could he play left mid or left wing?

I don't get the Hayes thing at all! I understand him not playing, not on the bench no chance!

my team for tomorrow (what i would play, not what we will play)

    Hammer

    Solly Morrison Taylor Wiggins

    Green Russell Stephens Jacko
    BWP Kermo

I would love to "rest" Green, but Waggy is worse than an off song Green!
Ceddy is the second most unlucky player in the squad. Noone, even Powell, could of foreseen how good Wiggins is!

I think there's going to be an almighty backlash tomorrow.

We've already bounced back immediately from our other defeats this season and I don't see anything changing.

Hughes (J) will have to be watched, of course but I can feel a commanding performance coming on here.

    3-0 to The Mighty Addicks.

I see Curle is trying to unload Sam Sodje from his squad. A bit of wild man, but he has always been popular with the fans wherever he has played. At least they know he is trying. Only 32, not a great age for a CB but I guess accumulated injuries have taken their toll. He was injured for our play-off matches against Swindon. I wonder if things would have worked out differently had he played?. We could have been promoted, stormed through the Championship, and now be contending a Champions League place with the likes of Arsenal and Spurs under the Parkinson Supremacy.

Hughes is suspended today (final game of a three game suspension).

    Can I see a backlash? No :(

Perhaps Chris has been told by the Chairman that promotion is all important (now) this season so that's why we have two holding midfielders at home, two left backs on the pitch and a right winger who doesn't want to go forward?

    Hughes is suspended today.

Shame in one sense as I was looking forward to hurling some deserved abuse at him. That said, despite himself,he is a good player and I had him down for a goal or two today.so good riddance.

Which Hughes is suspended.. Jeff or Lee?

I guarantee notts gameplay will be to come and stifle us for the first 20 odd mins, in an attempt to get the crowd on charltons back. I think it'll work.

I'm going for 1-1, with notts to open the scoring in the first half. Taylor with an equaliser from a Stephens corner.

Accepted my work colleague's offer of a ticket for the Swindon vs Cheltenham game, so I'm off to the County Ground.

Given that every time I step away from this board when we're playing we seem to score, we should win about 15-0 today.

    Still going for 3-0.

Haynes comes in for Danny Green who has a shoulder knock, Waggy on the bench.

Be good / interesting to see Haynes pace once again

Tewks was referring to Jeff Hughes not the (suspended) Lee Hughes.

I agree with MT, I'm disappointed he isn't playing as I usually look forward to giving him abuse <laugh>. But in all seriousness he doesn't deserve to play a single game.

AllHell, you say 'two left backs', do you mean JJ plays like a left-back at the moment (I.e he's playing very defensively for a winger) or that you see his best position as that of a left back?

On the way to The Valley now, I'm expecting a reaction to our defeat, and to win by at least 3 goals. But I have a feeling it will be a tight game, with County playing very defensive football.
