Nottingham Forest v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - City Ground Date - 30 April 2022 Kick off - 3:00pm Following their exciting but ultimately disappointing 3-3 home draw against Bournemouth, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is the formidable prospect of a visit to the City Ground to play Steve Cooper’s Forest team - arguably the form side in the Championship. On Tuesday evening, Bournemouth moved a point closer to automatic promotion to the Premier League after coming back from 3-0 down to draw at Swansea City. Two high-class Joel Piroe finishes and Cyrus Christie's drive had put Swansea in control. Kieffer Moore scored either side of Dominic Solanke's penalty to give Bournemouth a potentially priceless point. However, the most pivotal moment was Jamal Lowe’s - in my opinion - disgraceful challenge on Ben Cabango in the first half. Cabango was not moving easily after that and when Dominic Solanke found him at the start of the second half, the Swans’ shape and balance was snatched away. Scott Parker's side stay second with three games remaining this season. They are three points clear of Nottingham Forest, who also have three games left, with the two clubs meeting at the Vitality Stadium in a week's time. Whilst the Swans were drawing against the Muff, Forest denied Fulham the chance to claim the Championship title with a victory at Craven Cottage that boosted the Reds' hopes of earning automatic promotion to the Premier League. Forest's triumph, coupled with Bournemouth's draw at Swansea, means that Steve Cooper's side now have their fate in their own hands, and could finish in the top two and end a 23-year top-flight absence if they win their three remaining games - which includes a trip to the second-placed Cherries next Tuesday. A gifted first-half goal, determinedly poked home by Philip Zinckernagel after a defensive mix-up between Tim Ream and goalkeeper Marek Rodak, ensured the East Midlands club left west London with the decisive three points. Brice Samba crucially denied Fabio Carvalho an equaliser moments after the visitors snatched the lead. The Reds goalkeeper made a fine diving save to again foil the Portuguese forward in the second half after Championship player of the season Aleksandar Mitrovic headed over from close range and Sam Surridge was kept out by Rodak at the other end. Fulham, who controlled 75% possession and had 20 shots against the in-form Forest, need only two points from their final two matches to clinch the title. The Swans have played Forest on 69 previous occasions, winning 26, losing 27 and drawing 16. In the corresponding match last season, the Swans ran out 1-0 winners, thank to a Connor Roberts header: Turning to Saturday, especially without the ‘crocked’ Cabango, I can’t see anything other than a Forest win - Forest to win 3-0. Hope I’m wrong
It's very hard to see past a home win Unless we can come back from 3 down to draw.... However, I'll get in with a very optimistic 0 - 0, before Mono.
Thanks Taff...please do not defend from the start we will get mullered....£o the right thing attack attack attack get four goals in the bag and then we might be able to relax....we can have a shock here and win....
I wouldn't be surprised if we come away with a point or even all three. Forest have suddenly put themselves in a position where they can gain automatic promotion but that means they could become jittery and nervous in their new situation and fail miserably. We are unbeaten in nine and should have won at least seven of those. ... Or maybe Forest will win 5-0
Thanks as always Taff. I agree it's difficult to see anything other than a Forest win as they are on a good run but then so are we despite our abysmal defending! So I am being optimistic and going for a close game. So it could be a Forest win by an odd goal or we may keep our unbeaten run going with a 1-1 scoreline.
Up and ready for the last away game of the season ...could be a cracker as we are unbeaten as well though with nothing but pride to play for ...but perhaps our away support can provide the 12th man and spur us on to a great win...it would make a change from grabbing draws from wins which feel like defeats...fingers crossed for a positive result @nd response from our super Swans...
Cameron Congreve makes his first senior start for Swansea City in the sole change to the starting line-up for this afternoon’s clash with Nottingham Forest. The teenager comes in for injury victim Ben Cabango, while Olivier Ntcham and Jamie Paterson are fit enough to make the bench having missed the midweek draw against Bournemouth. Andy Fisher continues in goal, with Ryan Manning joining Kyle Naughton and Joel Latibeaudiere in the Swansea back three. Hannes Wolf and Cyrus Christie are the wing-backs, with Flynn Downes and skipper Matt Grimes in midfield. Congreve and Joel Piroe will provide support for Michael Obafemi in attack. Swansea City: Andy Fisher; Joel Latibeaudiere, Kyle Naughton, Ryan Manning; Cyrus Christie, Flynn Downes, Matt Grimes (captain), Hannes Wolf; Joel Piroe, Cameron Congreve; Michael Obafemi. Substitutes: Ben Hamer, Jay Fulton, Korey Smith, Olivier Ntcham, Jamie Paterson, Nathanael Ogbeta, Kyle Joseph. Nottingham Forest: Brice Samba, Djed Spence, Joe Worrall (captain), Jack Colback, Philip Zinckernagel, Sam Surridge, Brennan Johnson, Ryan Yates, Scott McKenna, Steve Cook, James Garner. Substitutes: Ethan Horvath, Tobias Figueiredo, Richmond Laryea, Alexander Mighten, Cafu, Joe Lolley, Dale Taylor.
So a back 3 of Latibeaudiere, Naughton and Manning, with Christie and Wolf as wing backs. Must be the shortest set of CBs in the Championship - didn’t he learn anything from Tuesday?

It's as if RM totally ignores what other teams are capable of and just goes ahead with what he wants to happen. We've created a couple of chances as well though
