New Nottingham Forest manager Steve McClaren is hoping Blackpool's Stephen Crainey will provide the solution to his squad's left-back problem. Forest are short in that position and Scotland international Crainey could be the right man at the right price. The 30-year-old is available on a free transfer after his contract with the relegated Seasiders expired. He was a key member of Blackpool's promotion-winning side of the 2009/10 season and gave a good account of himself at Premier League level. The ex-Celtic and Leeds United man made 34 appearances despite missing two months of the season with an ankle injury. A move to the City Ground this summer could now be on the cards. Crainey is rumoured to have rejected an improved deal to stay with Blackpool and is looking for a fresh start. Left-back has been a problem position for Forest for the last two campaigns and new boss McClaren has highlighted it as a key area to strengthen before the new season.
