Punter of the Year Competition I will not be running the POTY competition next year. Apart from a few active "punters" the interest has dwindled markedly since it started. I'm confident I picked up all the bets this year but I can't guarantee I would be able to next year which would make it impractical to continue with it A big thank you to those who persevered and a massive well done to those ending in profit, in particular attivo who, unless he blows it over the next few days, has ended with a spectacular £19,000 profit. I doubt any of the "professional" media pundits nor tipping organisations have got even close to that The Saturday Racing League We started off with 18 and we still have 14 involved. This is the simplest of competitions to run, being on Saturdays only and level stake SP. I'm happy to continue with this if there is enough interest. Same format with weekly, monthly and overall champions Big meeting competitions Happy to run these whenever they aren't being run by anyone else. My usual format is a points competition with bonus points for winners based on SP If anyone can remember the points competitions that Arkle ran I could do those instead if required, but I would need to know in advance if anyone is interested. Quick reminder, there were 2 selections in each race. The first selection got the full points (30 for 1st, 20 for 2nd etc with double for the nap) and the second selection got half the points Please post any views below. Thanks Ron
Thanks for all the time you put in to these Ron,Must take a good while with the POTY as the bets fly in.
It's not too time consuming NDS. The biggest problem is when I don't have access to the internet and/or my laptop. There have been 2,635 bets placed, of which 608 showed a profit. The longest losing sequence of any tipster was 25 (shared) and the longest winning sequence was 6. If anyone would like any more statistics let me know. As long as I have the data I can more or less provide anything
I must admit Ron, I do enjoy the Saturday racing league and the big meeting comps. You do an absolute brilliant job, so I am more than happy to go with whatever you decide
I thought I'd have had 2,635 bets just by myself, felt like it anyway Thanks for all the effort you put into these comps
Just to echo what's already been said. Top job Ron and much appreciated. Happy to go by whatever you decide.
Thanks for running these comps Ron, very much appreciated and the first thing i think of on a Saturday, wherever I am!
I enjoy running the competitions. Keeps my brain active. The only things that keep my brain active these days are running comps, knocking up systems in MS Access, sudokus and jig saws. Oh and juggling money between accounts . The rest of my time is mainly animal related (but don't let your imaginations run riot), and travelling backwards and forwards to football training and matches
I have to admit Ron, although I did bet outside this comp I sometimes forgot it was going, which is strange really as I take a look at the Daily Thread, well daily, so i'm not totally sure why I didn't bet more... Ultimately what you have done must have been hard work all round to keep on top of even with the low numbers entering, you deserve credit for running it as well as you have. It takes some doing...
