    I was just wondering if new posts could pop up on their own and the user, such as myself would not have to refresh the page to see any new posts on a thread.
    Can this forum me developed to do this or will it stay like it already is?

    You can download an auto-refresh, which is what I've done, and my browser automatically refreshes this page every minute, have a look at the browser add-ons available.

    I use chrome too. This is the auto-refresh I use. It can be a bit of a pain sometimes (you have to turn it off when replying if it'll take more than a minute to type!), but otherwise it is pretty good. The chrome webstore might have others available which are better, it just takes a bit of searching.

    Oh yes they are...

    Stupid me... I though they were different because that picture slideshow thing had one picture on one and the other on the other one...

    <ok>

    Installed it now.

    It could be done at server level, or just by inserting some code in the HTML of this page, for example:

    HTML:
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh"
    CONTENT="30; URL=http://www.not606.com/forumdisplay.php/152-Formula-1">
    ...would refresh the F1 board page every 30 seconds. I'm not particularly good with HTML though, so I don't know how it'd tie in with the vBulletin stuff.

    Or if you use a Mac, simply 'F5'.

    Whilst these both work, I think the idea was to make it automatic, so you don't have to refresh the page, you just look at the tab and any unread threads are highlighted. It only takes a tiny amount of effort out of the whole thing, but I guess it's personal preference.

    Yes, I agree. The disadvantage with refreshing the page, rather than it being updated automatically, is that for some reason this site seems rather slow to reload.

    On the subject of browsers, anybody who wants to see adverts blocked useFirefox and adblock plus, it makes a difference (no more ads). Seen a few posts about ads on here, that's all.

    It's more like Google advertising - it picks up a word in your post and inserts a hyperlink to Amazon or somewhere. 'Chicane' is quite a widely used word on this forum and the software helpfully provides a hyperlink to some dance music CDs.

    I love the irony in the software linking from the wrong part of your post Genji!

    For the chrome users, I've just found the same adblock software but for chrome, you can download it free here.

    I'll let you know if it works.

    EDIT: Well, the link in Genji's post has gone, so that's a start I guess! Whether that's coincidence (they sometimes disappear), I'll let you know.
