Hi all not606ers The final week of what has been a fantastic season is here already. Where has the season gone. Seems only a short while ago Rickie hit the back of the net with a late penalty away to West Brom that turned out to be the foundation of a great season. I have always said the unpredictability of results is what makes football one of the most exciting sports in the world to watch - results like last season Mau Utd 8 Arsenal 2, West Brom 5 Man Utd 5, this season Cardiff 3 Man City 2, Chelsea 6 Arsenal 0. In fact every week there are suprise results, take Man uTd 0 Sunderland 1 or Chelsea 0 Norwich 0 from this week. This is the same with the prediction league, predicting results, correct scores, goalscorers -it would be boring if we could all predict the way results were going to go. Tomw19 looks to have mastererd this seasons scores the best but there is still this final bumper week to go. I started the prediction league 4 seasons ago and each year there have been different winners. There was one season on the old 606 board where saints alive won. Season 2 beddytare won and last season tottonsaint was the winner. There have been an array of different weekly, monthly and cup winners. When i started this 4 seasons ago saints were in league 1 and who could have predicted that in 4 seasons we would be finishing 8th in the premier league. The first fixtures posted were for 6 August 2010 Southampton v Plymouth Charlton v Bournemouth Notts County v Huddersfield Swindon v Brighton Wallsall v MK Dons Coventry v Portsmouth Sfc jordi was the 1st joint winner - there are some other familiar names on this list - are you one of them and changed your name sfc_jordi 9 HilpertonianSwindon 9 Jacksk1 8 BlueArrowToo 8 WorcesterSaint 7 Redandwhitemanofkent 7 senatt79 6 saintandythered 6 SaintsGeorge 5 Saints Alive 5 Oxfordsaint 5 Leopardspots 4 Ana 4 st_elsewhere 3 st_chris91 3 saint_lambden 3 Landfordchris 3 joe steinburg 3 Hampshire is red and white 3 sfcRich 2 RocketSwanie 2 Huddersaint 2 beanysaint 2 PompeyWallasey 1 OddRiverOakWizards 1 PompeyMeowth 0 ConorSwainiesta 0 Anyway - thank you to all who have taken part over the last 4 years. The game has developed, gradually introducing bonus goals and a joker. I dont want to tinker too much and let this get too confusing but i will introduce an additional feature for next season that i will introduce this week. There will be a gamble question that you can chose to play or not. If you get the gamble question correct (which will usually be a 50/50) you will gain a further 3 points and if you get it wrong you will lose 3 of your points. I will include this with this weeks fixtures that i will post tomorrow. All the best
Drinks on us for all the work you have put in over the past four years. I remember stepping in for you one week when you were unavailable to count up everyone's scores for the week, and I can definitely say it's a lot more tedious than it looks! Cheers RAWMOK, look forward to what we have in store this week to see if I can nip in at the last
Have a virtual "beer" on me too mate!... Can't believe it's been 4 seasons already!....Checking the football scores on Saturday and Sunday nights wouldn't be the same without your brilliant game. Tom has been so consistantly good this season, I don't think he has had even an average month this season and Beefy is the King of the cup (i'm still waiting to break my cup duck...) Cheers for your work in keeping this running, weekends wouldn't be the same without it, I just wish that I was as good at predicting results in the bookies with money riding on it!...
Thanks for doing this year on year RWMOK If I was to make a request it would be for the Joker to be limited to the 6 score predictions. Feel the benefit of using it on the Anytime goalscorer is far too great to even considering using it on anything else.
I've only started to play this year but I'm already hooked! It's a really nice 5 minutes out every week and I'm getting better! but I do agree that the joker should be banned for the goalscorer - it's usually a too easy option and favours Liverpool!
