The City fans who use the “Not606” website have been discussing the Board’s proposals for the rebuilding of Ashton Gate and we would like the following points to be given serious consideration by the Club.

    1. The design of and materials used in the construction of the stands / roofs must be conducive to good acoustics and amplification of the crowd noise.
The majority of us are concerned that if a “Bowl” type design is used, the noise generated by the crowd will just disappear into the walls, roof and into the air at the front. Our concerns were vividly highlighted at the recent match at the Cardiff City Stadium, where those present report that the noise of a 25,000 crowd was very poor.
Many of the modern stadia suffer from this problem and we very much want to retain throughout the rebuilt Ashton Gate, the crowd noise/atmosphere that is currently generated from the Wedlock stand. We consider that if this involves an extra cost, it would be recouped many times over in match points won for years to come. Please include the Atyeo roof in this respect.
    2. A significant majority want to have safe standing areas, especially behind the goals and ask the club to include provision for this. We accept that this will only prove to be viable if current legislation is changed to allow a return to standing areas.
    3. The number of toilet and refreshment facilities must be increased from those currently provided in the Atyeo stand by as much as 30- 50%.
    4. Viewing positions for our supporters who are confined to wheelchairs, must be sited at a much higher level than the current “worm’s eye view” together, of course, with easy access to the site level. We understand that this may involve dedicated spiral inclines as use of electrical lifts may not be permitted during emergency evacuation of the stadium. “Wheelchair sites” should be included in both Wedlock and Williams rebuilds.
    5. Have the Club considered underground car parking? As there will be many tonnes of spoil to be removed especially from the Wedlock, it would seem to be sensible to dig out the soil under ground level. Extra car-parking provides an additional source of revenue. Site under rebuilt Wedlock Stand?
    6. Sports facilities under stands or alternatively underground. The Bristol City Community Trust is now involving the Club in the community in a way that has previously not been done. We have always simply been a football club.
    But throughout Europe, many football clubs are in fact “Sports Clubs”. I live in Portugal and Benfica or to use their full name, Sport Lisbon & Benfica, is a good example. They organise for the local community children and young adults of both genders, a staggering number of sports;
Athletics, Handball, Volleyball, Futsal, Basketball, Martial Arts, Boxing, Karting, Canoeing, Triathlon, Swimming, Table Tennis, Judo, Hockey, Rugby and Kickboxing.
If Bristol City Community Trust were to do anything toward becoming this type of sporting club existing parallel to and in tandem with the Football Club, just imagine how many young people will become lifelong Cityites if they actually played for Bristol City even if it’s a sport other than football.
Many of the sports listed above would be more suited to off-stadium buildings and locations, but as a start and also a useful addition to the Football Club’s training facilities, what about a Futsal pitch underground or under a stand. Site under rebuilt Williams Stand?
    7. If there is any intention to rename the rebuilt stands, please canvas supporters before you do so. Whether he passes Atyeo’s appearances or not, will the Club consider naming a section after Louis Carey. In the same vein, we assume many will agree that Steve Lansdown should also be recognised in this way.
    8. Improved exits from the Dolman, with special emphasis on those from the higher parts of the stand.
    9. Put seating in to fill the gaps between Atyeo/Dolman and Atyeo/Williams.
We hope that our comments are useful information for the decisions that will be made on our behalf about the reconstruction of Ashton Gate.

Don't think it would be viable to go underground as the underpinning cost would be horrendous.

My one concern is if we put seats inbetween the stands ain't we basically creating a bowl?

But I like the dolman exits as everybody has to (they don't it just feels like it) my seat and I miss the last 10 mins because they want to miss the traffic rush? Why is beyond me as normally most action is in the final 10 minutes.

ROD; If it was an underground garage so not too deep, any idea what sort of additional cost on £40 million? £0.5m / £1.0m / more?

Wouldn't we have to redesign the whole substructure if we were to put in a underground car park? and not just the stands, So would cost a bit more, And would imagine it would be a bastard to get out of with all the fans walking around and all the cars coming out at once.

That's what the club appear to be saying and if its got a high roof the sound will just disappear like it does as Cardiff.

A while ago some people paid for bricks to be in the new stand (myself included) - are these going to be incorporated in the new one(s)

Its a bit of a myth this leaving 10 minutes early stuff, I always walk down dead on 90 mins but I'm not leaving. I'm just moving down to the front to watch the game from a different position! If you get stuck at the back of the Dolman it can be 20 mins just to get down the stairs.. This is the single biggest issue in the Dolman stand by far...no need for it.

I do like to particularly slow up along the first level of the Dolman about C AND B block cos I know ROD sits somewhere around there! <laugh>

I also like to play guess which one is ROD and try to suss him out from his missus who he sits next to! <laugh> I'm down to about 4 couples now, I just cant tell which are the natural swingers!!

The Club's statement said that the Dolman would be refurbished and I remember seeing a drawing with exits about half way up into the upper floor of the old bowling rinks. did anyone else see this?

If I seen him there I would be able to recognise him.

As for leavin I tend to just as the added time comes up, If its 3 minutes ill give it another minute then walk out and by the time I get to the car park the games finished so im close enough to the stands to know if we score late on (WHICH WE NEVER DO!)
