Right I briefly mentioned making this the other night and recieved no objection so here it is.

This is the thread strictly to discuss meeting up, drinking spots, where people are staying, general plans, songs etc. Thought this way we can keep all this sort of chat out of the other one and/or the match thread.

So who's up for it? So far we have confirmed (i think!):

    Myself
    Jaidi
    Archers Road
    Thereisonlyoneno7
    BassettSaint

Apologies if I've missed anyone out but state if you're up for it and I will update the op.

As for meeting up out there we can name a spot and a time but I am more than happy to exchange numbers (via pm) with anyone who's also happy to do so... just send me a message!!

2 possible places to start I think would be either O'Connells Irish bar or the English football pub. Both fairly local to the main square (Duomo) and seem like a decent bet as a starting point. The latter apparently has plenty of good footy memorabilia as well which could be interesting and like a home from home.

Anyone planning on a few drinks after the game too?

We need more suggestions too so do some research people n put them out there <ok>

Finally... up the ****ing Saints! <cheers>

I'll be there, but not there, as I don't do meet ups. But have fun, none the less. I will.

I might remind you that the list is being kept upto date. Not by me, I handed it over. :)

Definitely up for this. Hopefully there'll be no Saints fans outside either of those bars flinging plastic chairs at the cops (I'm sure there won't be. We aren't like that). Will PM my number later.

And at the City match, come back singing at least onechant loud and clear in Italian to show the rest of Europe that Saints fans can sing in several languages.

I've got 72 hours to learn enough Italian to get me around, fed, watered etc in Milan. Not confident.

I'd heard that since you stepped down, there is no need for a list and the remaining mods had all agreed they could ditch the canes too :emoticon-0105-wink:

Yeah should be okay our fans (generally speaking) aren't like that. I wouldn't mind somewhere a bit more cultured either and open to suggestions.

Same here, mine will consist og 'grazie' and how to order a drink <laugh>

There'll be no pukka pies there. Enjoy the good Italian food with a fine wine, the sights of Milan, see the opera, and guys there's some rather special shops.

Have a feeling the San Siro will be rather ghostly given Inter's current plight!!

    Easy:

    I would like a Chianti:
"Chianti?" (shouted of course whilst showing with your hands the size of the glass)

    I would like a Bolognese:
"Bolognese" (again shouted and making eating gestures with your hands)

To get a taxi to the ground:
"San Siro" (said calmly, with a massive smile, whilst patting the badge and thinking "Thank you Markus")

See being half Italian has helped me a lot in life :)

I used to know how to order two beers in just about every European language, but even then Italian confounded me - I noticed they like to use combinations of every vowel in every word, and would look at you uncomprehendingly if your pronunciation wasn't sufficiently dramatic and flamboyant.

    Let's start Italian then!!

Due birra por favor y un vino blanco.

    Prego = Don't mention it

Sei panini por favor (from a scene in the Talent Mr Ripley)

    Rossineri
    Arriverderci
    Buongiorno
    Ciao
That's all the Italian I know so over to someone else.

If all else fails, then try some Spanish. It has been known for Germans to use Castellano (Spanish) to communicate with Italians by speaking slowly.
