Singeur @ 14/1 3:20 Musselburgh I put this horse up LTO at Thirsk, it was well backed early doors 12/1 into 5/1, but didn't get home over 6F as conditions deteriorated during the day resulting in a going change to heavy. Down a further 2lbs for that run, his first in Class 4 since 2011, this 0-85 handicap is a significant drop in class for this horse who has spent most of his career running in Class 2 and 3 events in some of the best northern sprint races mainly over 5 furlongs. He has a lot in his favour here, the forecast good going, along with the drop in class, trip and weights, plus the boy Farley's -3 lbs allowance and a C/D Win all add confidence. Good Luck
How about this for a race. Two of the best horses with two of the best riders in the game. Back it up with a great call and it's just magic.
So glad Telescope and Mukhadram line up tomorrow. At last we get a chance just to see how good Australia is
1.55 York- York Glory 20/1 ew Call me crazy but he wil win tomorrow down another 6lbs from his last run although he had not fired this yr anywhere be his form last yr he will take all the beating has a brilliant c&d record with a strong pace likely everything is in his favour
2.30 York - Growl - 6/1 Very unexposed won easily on his sole start has a G1 entry and this horse will be class !!
With twelve set to face the starter for the Acomb Stakes, it looks a lot more open than the betting suggests. Likely favourite Basateen hails from the Hannon two year old machine and Hamdan Al Maktoum’s chestnut warrants respect with hopefully a fully fit Paul Hanagan aboard. Jamaica represents the all-conquering Ballydoyle operation and Joseph O’Brien will have to put some lead in the saddle to make the weight up on the grey. Ed Dunlop’s Prince Gagarin is part-owned by his father so there will be no shortage of words of advice; whilst the chestnuts Salateen, Misleading and Dutch Connection all have good chances at good odds. Richard Hughes cannot ride for his retained yard here so he has picked up an excellent spare in Growl, who could roar for Brian Meehan. The Great Voltigeur sees a very good turnout for what could be an above average renewal. The favourite will surely be Derby runner-up Kingston Hill, who could boost the form of his conqueror if he does not find the ground too lively; and at the odds looks opposable. Postponed finally figured out how to get his head in front last time but has a lot to find to challenge Roger Varian’s grey and Marzocco may be representing Mr St Leger but has not seen the winner’s enclosure this term. Hartnell is a horse clearly going the right direction but he may not have an uncontested lead here with unknown quantity Granddukeoftuscany having made all at Tipperary last time: is he just here to size up the opposition for Mr O’Brien. Sir Michael Stoute’s Snow Sky has a tendency to misbehave but he put his best foot forward at Goodwood and is going in the right direction to prove himself a St Leger contender for Khalid Abdullah. A select six go to the post for the Juddmonte International with “the best he’s ever trained” Australia heading the market. There should be no excuses as he faces his elders for the first time; and chief amongst them is Eclipse winner Mukhadram dropping back to his optimum trip after proving no match for Taghrooda at Ascot. Also in front of him that day was Telescope, who takes a step down in trip like the favourite but may be more inconvenienced than the Derby winner, third in the Guineas. It is questionable whether Prix Du Jockey Club winner The Grey Gatsby got home at Longchamp last time but Kevin Ryan’s grey returns to the scene of his Dante victory. Kingfisher is theoretically held by his stablemate on Irish Derby form whilst Arod needs a big step up on his achievements to date. Can Australia win this in the manner of a champion to go some way to justifying his trainer’s opinion? Surely there can be no excuses.
I wouldn't call you crazy Wooley - but that jockey booking puts me off a LOT! I will put him in my competition duo though, in anticipation of Frank bringing him home just that little bit too late - behind, hopefully, Caspian Prince
Early thoughts for tomorrow 1.55 Bogart or Judge 'n'Jury Too difficult to have a strong view about but I am going with Bogart (Just) 2.30 Growl I very much like this one and feel that he and Jamaica will be a class above anything else and fight it out/ 3.05 Kingston Hill I am still not convinced by this horse and fear Snow Sky but the trip and ground are perfect for KH so just getting the nod. 3.40 Australia Not a betting race however 4.20 Bantam Bet of the day for me, as brave as I dare. 4.55 Burnt Sugar or Roosey Both these have been Group entered along with the Hills horse. I feel these two will fight it out with Hannon's getting just on top Two decent singles on Growl & Bantam Three small on Bogart, Judge n Jury & Burnt Sugar Two races just to watch for Kingston Hill & Australia Possibly a small yankee for fun combining the best of the above. Good luck all.
