Qatar effectively exonerated from corruption charges re their World Cup bid.

    Staggering.

The Times stand by its assertions and accusations.

    This will please the BHA.

Bugger odddy, don't like opposing you but think KINGCORA at 9-1 in the Ludlow 2:00 tomorrow is a knocking good bet.

Hoping Mr Longsdon has a return to form tomorrow before some big runners at the weekend. We are assured that all is well at the yard. Fehily missing some nice rides for Fry tomorrow to be on TIDAL WAY for his retained trainer!

First post on here after being a reader for a good while. Hope all is well.

Alderwood @14/1 seems worth a crack. Small stake.

The more I look at Champagne Fevers form the more I am convinced he would have won the Champion Hurdle with ease last year if he'd been campaigned over the smaller sticks. His bumper must be one of the strongest ever run. His supreme, equally impressive. I refuse to believe his Arkle was anything other than top drawer as well. That crop should be worth following, especially with big question marks over SS and Sire De Grugy. Not sure he'll win today though. I have it in my mind he's a better horse on spring ground up that hill. At 10/11 I'll watch the race and hope he shows enough to get excited about for the rest of the season.

Welcome Exotic Dancer. I am with you on this one today. I think there are enough doubts about Champagne Fever (first run of the year, liable to throw in the odd poor run) and Sizing Europe (can he consistently run to a high level at 12) to make Alderwood a nice looking bet at 14/1

If Champagne Fever is going to be as good as many think (myself included) then surely he has to win well today in a race that looks a perfect start for him? Shame I missed the evens, as I would have had a dabble at that.

i think you're right Naas. he should win but it would not be the first time he has disappointed and todays rival is a bloody good horse who will provide a stern test. i expect he'll win but wouldn't want to bet on it.

Sizing Europe isn't the same horse he was though, even though he clearly has lots of ability, he doesn't have the same gears as he used to. Last time out he won because he outstayed his rival and outjumped him, and I don't take the form of Rags To Riches seriously as he won a funny Down Royal race afterwards (very impressively it has to be said).

Throw in the weight and I would be surprised to see Sizing Europe winning today. Although I wouldn't mind it too much if he did because he is a superb horse who has performed at top level for a long time.

Champagne Fever still has to prove stamina. They keep saying he was bred like a Gold Cup horse but he has gone like a light on more than one occasion, notably a 2 and a half mile race against Rule The World.

Sizing Europe is 12, hates the ground and its a big ask.

ALDERWOOD should enjoy the distance and RUBI LIGHT loves the ground and cantered all over a peak Sizing Europe 3 years ago on reappearance before unseating.

I quite like a small stake on the pair of them given the circumstances.

If this was good ground on 2nd run of the season Champagne Fever would be a good bet, but remember he is aiming to peak on 26 December.

Morning, you types. How are we??? Good, good.

Not backing it, as she’s only 4/5, but there will be many a long face at Seven Barrows and not just the horses if TAYLOR doesn’t win at Ludders this afternoon (1.30). Taylor, what a lovely name for a mare by the way, had 2 outings last term, both at Listed level in bumpers, and performed with great credit in finishing 4th and then 3rd. Purchased by present connections after the first of these for a whopping figure she is expected to, by terms end, to take very high rank amongst the dear old mares brigade.

Today’s heat is a race the forum’s favourite trainer and our sports shining light, Mr Henderson, likes to target and he’s won this 3 times out of the past 5 runnings.

    Good luck all.

SBC, brings me to the question that I have always pondered. Is Mssr Chuckles a fan of young Taylor Swift?

    Isn’t everyone, old boy.

I was going to add incidentally in my original piece that I hoped the mare proved very SWIFT. But forgot! Still let’s hope many a wag includes it in their write up should the old girl dot up this afternoon.

I've always thought Champagne Fever is a horse who does particularly well at Cheltenham and also needs things to go his own way. I remember Defy Logic eyeballing him all the way down the Leopardstown back straight in the Racing Post Novice Chase (one of the best 2 miles novice chases I've seen for many a year) and worrying him into a bad blunder 2 out which cost him any chance. It's also worth pointing out that his record over fences reads 1326, far from superstar material at the moment and in my eyes way too short today, despite the weight he gets.
