Can you believe it Triolo D'alene is 40/1 surely that is to big for last yrs winner no matter what form he is in!
Barry's Blog courtesy of ATR HENNESSY HISTORY IS AGAINST TRIOLO Apart from the Grand National, few handicap chases have the pedigree of the Hennessy Gold Cup. The greats of the game appear on the roll call and this year TRIOLO D’ALENE (3.00) will be trying to emulate the greatest of them all, Arkle, when he attempts to follow up last year’s win. It was back in 1965 that Arkle landed back-to-back wins and although others have tried, none have succeeded although Denman did the double but he missed the year between in 2008. So that puts into context the task that is facing Triolo. It’s not so much the 10lb rise that would concern me, it is more the ground because last year it was good but it is sure to ride slower and that’s not ideal. The trip and the track aren’t a bother and Nicky Henderson has the horse buzzing. He went to Kempton last week for a sharpener and could not have been in better shape. I’m sure he’ll give a very good account and his form in France before he came to Seven Barrows was more than respectable on soft. But this is a mighty competitive race where you need all your ducks in a row. Most of them are, it’s just the ground that’s a concern, although I was pleased to see that 'good to soft in places' was added to the chase course going on Friday. The betting has got it right, in my opinion, with the two at the top of the market holding the most realistic chances. Whatever happens to Djakadam, he’s a horse with a very bright future and the only question I have is whether this will come a bit early at the age of five on soft – no horse so young has even managed to win. For that reason I see Smad Place as the one we all have to beat. At seven he’s reaching his peak and the same age as when future Gold Cup winners Denman and Bobs Worth won it. Like them he was a top-class novice the previous season and there are no ground or stamina issues.
Morning guys just one bet for me today THE DRUIDS NEPHEW in the Hennessy looks a cracking ew bet currently 10/1 but hopefully goes off bigger conditions suit and hopefully fitness is spot on after last run GL if you follow
Great days racing coming up, the more I try to solve the Hennessy puzzle, the more cross-eyed I become but I've picked two against the field in Fingal Bay and Many Clouds. Also for a little fun I've backed them in a reverse f/c. Also backed at Newbury... Seventh Sky 20/1 eway Tolkiens Tango 8/1 eway Solar Impulse 7/2 Good luck guys!!
15:00 Newbury - Midnight Prayer e/w (Well, I'm going to have a bit e/w at 28/1 (currently available in four or five places) on Alan King's 'other one'. Loaded with stamina in pedigree, goes on the ground, but might find the distance too short! ). Good luck today everyone!
Morning All. Today's lucky 15. Newcastle,2-05.Irving. Newbury,2-25.More Of That. Newbury,3-00.Rocky Creek. Newbury,3-35.Solar Impulse.(Nap) Good luck to all.
Does anyone remember the film The Last Samurai? Oh yes, that'll do for me. No more sci fi please Mr Cruise. Historical epics from now on thank you very much.
I couldn't decide between Exitas, who I backed last time out - and ran better than his position indicated in the Greatwood, or the Pipe's Home Run. Went with Home Run and resisted the temptation to do both!
Time for the big one ...................... Fingal Bay win and Monbeg Dude e/w. Main thing is they all come back safe and sound though
Many Clouds a ready winner well done those who were on him. Cracking run from Monbeg Dude in 4th, nice place money.
