Well done on Conti lads. As tough as they come. Don't think a Gold Cup on good ground is his cup of tea though imo
All that race has done has made me even more confident that Bob's Worth is the one they all have to beat again in the Gold Cup this year. Conti and Menorah were practically walking at the end there, neither of those are winning a gold cup in a million years. There are massive doubts about the stamina of Champagne Fever and i just cannot be having Holywell as good enough to win a gold cup.
Good win for Conti and the key differences were fitness and Cue Cards jumping. Unfortunately Daryl Jacob couldn't be a worse fit for Cue Card, much the same as him on Al Ferof last year. Both horses need to be in a rhythm and he asked him up on the wrong stride. You can't make three consecutive errors down the back straight. Don't think any of them are Gold Cup winners.
Chelt ante-post alive and kicking anyway! 4 fold lands Can't believe got odds against Don Poli, great price!
Cue Card a horse I never get right SDC a horse I never get right I should have left that fecking Betfair Chase alone
1/4, 1/3, 1/5 and 10/3 (7.67/1) - Not sure what the prices were when I posted that, but that was a massive price boost
Sorry mate, I only just read the thread and saw this. Saturday is about golf for me not horses! The don pointed out to me on Friday that he was entered and my response was "non runner again" as I really didn't think they would run the youngster on such unsuitable ground. The rest as they say is history!
Some rather ungracious comments on here pertaining to the two Champion Hurdle contenders today. I would just like to point out the obvious and that is that they both beat lesser opposition rather comfortably which is exactly what they should have done. We learned nothing new with maybe the exception that The New One seems to have improved his jumping a little.
Worst fookin day ever. And just to put the fookin cherry on top dear ol Taquin is now widely available at a longer odds for the CGC than I 'shrewdly' availed myself off a few months back. The thing is do I stop now or shovel a bit more coal on.
Faugheen was brilliant again, he is such a visually impressive beast. He was allowed to hack round in his own time and his jumping was never put under any pressure, so I dont think we learned anything about him. The Haydock race looked a much stronger event to my eye and the problem I have with Faugheen is its going to be the same story until he turns up at Cheltenham, Mullins says he could go up or down in trip, which suggests to me he will be going wherever there is a decent prize with cannon fodder to beat. Id like to see him in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton to take on The New One or in the Irish Champion Hurdle but I suspect he wont take part in a serious race until March and id find it hard to back him as a short priced fav there considering. Maybe thats just the way they have to do it to make sure they dont push him too hard before Cheltenham, you can see he is not a horse who needs races to get fit like Vautour, and he is reportedly hard to keep right. As it stands, im happy enough for him to keep the price out on The New One.
