Ascot - avoiding the favs (and probably avoiding the winners also!)

    1-45 Flying Officer ew

    2-20 Maarek

    2-55 Chicquita

    3-30 Custom Cut ew

4-05 Ruler of the World / Intibaah ew

    4-45 Russian Realm ew

Good luck all <ok> And apologies to Toppy in advance for jinxing HIS two!

At Ascot I like Jack Dexter and also the great CDA.

So tempted by Megastar at HQ, thrown in if he is in top form. Massive price too.

Been off the track an awfully long time Nass and his last run over hurdles was two and a half years ago when a distant last in the Scottish Champion Hurdle off 130. Plenty of blue on oddschecker but there are some very unexposed sorts in this making their handicap debuts. I particularly like the look of Jonjo's horse, he has done really well recently with handicap debutants.

    Afternoon All

A win yankee for me today:

2.35 Cheltenham Champions Court 6/1 - Likes it round Cheltenham and not out of this if ready to go
3.30 Ascot Night of Thunder 3/1 - Has won both starts on soft and confident will go close today
4.05 Ascot First Eagle 11/4 - Highly Regarded by the yard and jockey, handles the conditions he will win
5.30 Cheltenham - Moon Dancer 2/1 - Another one that is thought a lot of, impressive start to career in a Fairyhouse Bumper and is my NAP for the day.

    Cheers Trevez

Surprised a Stewards Enquiry wasn't called for the opener. Anyone brave enough to place an antepost bet on Forgotten Rules for next year's Ascot Gold Cup?

Jonjo's horse in the first at Cheltenham - could be another missed winner for AP :(

A worthy winner but he took those other two out with no real effort to avoid doing so, In France he would have won nothing today.

Dermot Weld always comes across as a classy guy when interviewed. The ground is brutal for flat horses!

Listening to Weld absolutely not as he won't run him on gd/firm ground. I guess you can get rain in the UK in June sometimes!

Some people must be stark raving mad as Channel4 have just reported someone layed GLB at 199-1. Never in that race was he anything like that and far from coming from the clouds as the commentator imagined he was up with the pace throughout and just needed a gap, he is also a very capable 7f horse as shown in France and so was always likely to be staying on when true 6f horses were coming to an end on that ground. 199-1, they need their head testing.

Maarek given too much to do yet again - either by the jock or by himself - flying at the finish doesn't do it!
