Johnson takes rossa parks for a spin in the 145 at leicester , I have just got 5s with 365 it is a tight race but a clean round and rossa should win comfortably 5s is huge really

A couple of nice novice chases tomorrow with small but decent line ups in both. Watching only but I do like both Thomas Crapper and Deputy Dan and hope they win.

Cabimas won well lto and the form stacks up. 9/4 isn't generous but I think he'll win.

Wolverhampton 2.10 Kingston Sassafras 9/1 ew - looks to have been plotted up to me.

Morning, you types. If the winner of that Plumpers novice chase (1.30) goes on to win at the Cheltenham Festival connections get a bonus of some £60,000. It’s one of 5 qualifying races this term. Voy Pur Ustedes did the double, for the county, back in ’05 and Uxizande almost did the same earlier this year. Will any of today’s 4 scoop, I say scoop, the pool.

My thoughts on the Open meeting:

    (i) how marvellous was it to have a leading jumps fixture where we didn’t continually have to be told by all sections of the media how wonderful and fantastic THAT man is. Hopefully, he’ll stay in Barbados,

(ii) how good was old boy Sam Winner off 147 when carrying the welter impost of 11-12?!? Nicely outpointed another promising sort in The Druid’s Nephew and the pair were a whopping 25 lengths clear of the 3rd. I can’t believe only one bookie chappie is quoting him for the CGC (Stanley James at 50/1). There’s talk of the Grand National for him but I think Mr Nicholls wants to target him at the CGC. Loved the way he jumped, travelled and then quickened. In a normal year would probobly need to improve another stone to win the race but 2015 CGC wise is looking very poor, at the moment, and it may only take a few pounds improvement to see Sam Winner a genuine CGC candidate,

(iii) didn’t have a bet in the race so I’m not talking through my pocket but the ride saddle monkey McLernon gave Johns Spirit in the ‘Paddy Power’ was one of the worst and barbaric I’d seen for many a long time. His tactic seemed to be to lead at the last and then bash the living daylights out of the horse from that point on whilst swaying on the horses back some drunkard. Woeful ride and the fact that Johns Spirit off 156 did so well with him on board is tantamount to the horses ability. Think he is up to a Ryanair challenge now.

(iv) How I laughed when Mr Henderson was told, by Nick ‘Lucky’ Luck, that both him and old boy Richie Persad had never been to Hexham and perhaps the should go together this Wednesday. The great man totally side stepped the question and you can guarantee that poor old Richie won’t be getting a ride in Air Hendo One in 48 hours time.

    Good luck, troops.

You See, Bob - agree about Cabimas 9/4. I also fancy Mystery Drama 11/4 so singles and a double for me. Good luck everyone!!

Question: Now that the dust has settled, did we see any Festival winners over the last few days - here or over in Ireland?

Personally I would love to see Hurricane Fly win the Champion again but it's going to be a tall order. Itching to see Faugheen on its reappearance. I was impressed with Uxizandre but it's hard to know if he's up to the level of Sire De Grugy and Sprintre Sacre at 2m. I think Blaklion will come good again as I feel he was mugged, having to do the donkey work on Friday.

    Your thoughts?

I see that its rumoured that dear old Edwina Currie, who I’ve had the great honour to meet, is set to go ‘In The Jungles’ in a few days time (along with 2014 X-Factor finalist Jake). My golly are we all rushing to take the 33/1 currently available re her winning the comp. I can see those bookie chappies being swamped re this generous offer.

Not sure about the GC, but Champagne Fever was brilliant (apart from 1 mistake early on) and must be a big player for The King George - I think 3 miles around Kempton will be ideal for him !!

Gents, anyone help with tickets for Kempton on Boxing Day? It seems they have tickets for Premier, Paddock and Family areas. Is Paddock basically Tattersalls?

As Sir Barney mentioned above, Johns Spirit has to be a Ryanair contender. Kings Palace was very impressive in taking the novice chase on Friday and has shortened markedly for the RSA. Too early to assess his chances, but he did disappoint in the Albert Bartlett in 2014 so I wouldn't be rushing to back him. In the juvenile race, Golden Doyen did really well to outbattle Hargam but I think Mr Henderson's charge is the one to take from the race.

Did we see a festival winner? Yes, Balthazar King <ok>

He's not going is he??? I seem to recall dear old Pip Hobbs saying as Balthazar King runs best fresh he wouldn't run again until the 2015 Grand National.

Ah I see, I assumed they would be going for the X-country at the festival, but Pip knows best.

In that case - did we see a festival winner at the weekend? Don't know.

Re Faugheen, when are we going to see him on the racetrack? Or is he so good that his first race outside novice company will be the Champion Hurdle? <run>

Hargem to me looks a horse to follow this season, I think he will be a much better horse on better ground and I was very impressed by how he travelled. The winner outbattled him, and I hope that is just inexperience rather than a softness in his runs. I guess that will change when AP gets on him. I wouldn't rule him out of the Triumph picture.

I think we will see a few handicap winners at the festival coming from this weekends action, the one I hope gets a nice weight is Little Jon who is turning into a favourite of mine, and also Drop Out Joe who is better than the form of his run in the novice chase.
