Good little novice chase at the Abbot. If I recall Mssr Nicholls stated that Keltus would make a fine chaser (he says that about all his horses though).

Morning, troops. Quiet today. Is that because now that we are on a ‘war footing’ everyone is up in their attics hastily searching for their hard hats and bayonets?!? In all seriousness though the coalface has just been upgraded to its second highest level of security with ‘extreme vigilance’ advised. There is no truth in the rumour though that the highest occurs when the canteen runs out of food or the steward can’t find any G to go in the GnT’s.

I see they race today at 2 of my favourite venues. God’s own racecourse, Newton Abbot and dear old Bath. No bet for me today though as nothing particularly inspires. Bit perturbed tough that the Prescott rogue is so close to Chuckle Towers this afternoon. He should though win the last 2 races at the latter named venue with High Secret (5.20) and Jolie Blonde, what a lovely name for a filly by the way (5.50). The former looks in the midst of running up a sequence and the latter fits his usual successful pattern of being stepped up markedly in trip for its handicap debut. Those bookie chappies though are given absolutely nothing away re either animal.

Good luck all.

Always looked it to me Nass (cleared his hurdles by about 2 feet). Fancy him to turn over Court Minstrel today, although 5/4 is a bit of a skinny price.

What about Mr Henderson's in the opener at Newton Abbot Sir Barney - any good whispers in The Weekender?

I bet AP would have preferred to stay on Marju's Quest today, rather than having to ride Rayak for Jonjo.

I've had a little short price treble today:

Son Du Berlais - would expect Mr Henderson to have this one primed and ready
Court Minstrel - Think it will be tough for a 4yo to beat Court Minstrel
High Secret - Sir Mark special who will run up a sequence

Not published until Wednesday, Oddy. Those bookie chappies taking absolutely no chances with Son Du Berlais and going just 1/4 in the card commencer. Going to be very hard to place this term though as he’s only a novice until the end of next month. Then the 4YO will have no option but to run in either handicaps or conditions heats.

Son Du Berlais should win but Pip Hobbs’ Val D’Arc is not without interest. He’s already a winner over the big ‘uns in France and wasn’t disgraced over hurdles last time. The other 3 animals though look Poor with several capital P’s.

I did re-read my post after I pressed submit and thought ‘Cor blimey that sounds very Arklesque’! You follow?!?

To make up for this I will say the 1-2-3 in the race will be: 1. Son Du Berlis, 2. Val D’Arc, 3. Kilcullen Article.

I am with Keltus actually, I think he might string them out and try and make all. To me he could easily be a better chaser than Court Minstrel. Took 7/4 this morning for a little interest.
