Picked this up off of OTIB, the BBC telling Bristol Rovers they are not regarded as big enough for Points West reporting after their recent demotion to the NON FOOTBALL LEAGUE..

They are on the same level of interest as Forest Green or Bath City...

Thank you very much for your email.

I am very sorry but BBC Points West has a policy to only report the scores of sides in the Football League. We have never routinely given out the results for Forest Green or Bath City – when they were in the Conference – or any of the numerous teams across the West who play non-league football. Unfortunately, following Bristol Rovers relegation, they now fall into this category. This is also further compounded by the fact the BBC does not have the TV rights to show any action from the Conference – only from the League – so we cannot feature any conference action in our weekend round ups.

However, we realise there is huge interest in the club and its fortunes. This is why we took the decision to broadcast a lengthy piece on Rovers pre-season focusing on their current situation and the importance of this season for the club. Although we will not be giving out their scores, we will continue to feature the team when they are newsworthy. For example, we will run a feature tonight on their game against Forest Green Rovers yesterday, as this was an important local derby. Last week we also ran a piece on Geoff Dunford’s resignation from the board.

If the club do well, we will follow their comeback on the main news programme – and of course, if they are on the verge of going back up next year, it will become a huge news story for us.

I do appreciate your comments and want you to know that this has been a very difficult decision to take – and one I realise, you will not agree with. But unfortunately we have to have a clear policy for covering non-league sides to be fair to all.

    With best wishes,

    Judith Hollingsworth

Just a quick reply about the above,so I can collect further thoughts.
    just checked my recordings
Monday tea time news on BBC1 just showed Rovers fans leaving the stadium,no highlights.
Tuesday BBC1 and ITV both showed the goals from the game.
