Its 12.40 on a lovely Sunday afternoon and there is no sigh of the daily thread even though there are a couple of Guineas trials at Leopardstown. I have a theory that it's absence is due to the fact that most of us racing fans feel like we have been kicked in the guts this weekend!
Reluctantly, I will post up my selection for the day. Howerver the disucssion for the Grand National should not be swept under the carpet and the other thread should continue. There are some nice races in Ireland today, inc 1000 & 2000 Guineas trials, but it is elsehwere that I have a flutter. 4.35 Leopardstown: ATHENS 14/1 I am astonished at this price. He is a really nice looking Dylan Thomas 3 Y 0, and he looked to have plenty of scope about him last year and I hope when we see him today that he has filled out and grown a little bit more. For me, last seasons tests over 7f and 1m were inadequate. Every single start suggested a step up in trip was needed and I think that is why he can surprise everybody over 10f today. The pedigree points to this as the dam stayed 10f and we know Dylan Thomas stayed 12f. He ran an excellent race first time up last year in a hot York maiden, running on late to finish in front of the likes of CRUSADE and THOMAS CHIPPENDALE, both of whom seem well regarded and the former a Group 1 winner. He then chased home Akeed Mofeed who is very well regarded by Oxx and again was doing his best work late, stretching clear from the pack. He was a little disappointing at Leopardstown when beaten by David Livinsgton 10L, but that was heavy ground that day and he also looked a bit outpaced. He finished ahead of FURNERS GREEN that day, rated 113, therefore Timeforms rating of 98 looks a big underestimate in my book, especially with a=the promise of improvement as a 3 Y 0 and also a step up in trip. Really interested in how has trained from 2 to 3 and think we might see O'Brien 2nd string cause an upset.
Afternoon chaps. The bumper at Ffos Las has a few decent looking horses in there. I'm not backing anything because my confidence has taken a hit by totally misreading the two at Chepstow yesterday albeit Irish Bucaneer did prove to be as good as his pedigree suggests. I'll be watching Bertie's Dream and Catch the Cheater with interest but can take not backing a winner at their prices. Yorky put up a horse yesterday that I mentioned I'd also had a strong word for via a friend who uses a different forum. I've been told his contact has stuck one up at Longchamp in the 2.40 called Beauty Parlour. I had a 5/1 from him yesterday, this was 11/4 this morning when I got on so I've rolled the profit over. In Ireland I like Famous Name and took 6/4 last night for a confident punt. Bolger wins the first ever year so First Strike at 3/1 looks big. Furners Green is short but has had the prep race to win today. I like Up in the fillies race at 5/1 each way with that important pipe opener under her belt. David Livingston has not had the prep so, although I really like hm, 7/4 is easy enough to leave alone.
Stick exactly that mate . Still feel sick personally For anyone feeling up to watching the racing today DABIRISIM is a very excitng 3yo (3.10 Longchamp) and Zantenda (2.40) Longchamp is my NAP 9/4 I also like UP and David Livingston.
Yeah im with you mate, but hey life goes on and we must continue to live our lives. Death of any kind isnt nice but we must contiue to live our lives as we choose and not dwell on the past too long, enjoy what you have and do what you can..............your a long time dead so come on kidda chin up, time is the greatest healer Today is another day
RV, Dabirism was ultra impressive at Longchamp last year. A Frankie special wasn't it? Last to first if I remember.

That looked an awful fall for Nathan Cook and he didnt move a muscle. Still down apparently so must be a pretty serious injury. Lets hope it's not too bad.
