Is it 1pt gained or 3pts dropped ?? in fairness Southampton were the better team over 90mins, we were ok in the first half but with zero penetration up front, in fact ti think the word to use is sloppy !! we were very sloppy in the final 3rd and at times thought we were clever enough to walk it in.

I think Southampton are down, they are extremly limited in their play in terms of technique and that was proven by the goal scored by Nathen Dyer who slotted it away superbly to give us an undeserved equaliser maybe. There seemed to be alot of guys missing in action today most notable was JDG who offered nothing at all for almost 90mins, how he stayed on the pitch as long as he did ive no idea, kemy looked far better in his short time on the field.

There are some positives to take out of the game, this was like a cup final for southampton and they were going in for the kill, there have been times in the past when after conceeding yet another soft goal we would have been going through the motions but in fairness to the players they dug in and battled for a point .

There were some heroic defensive efforts out there today, Ki was out on his feet ,making that last ditch tackle in the 90th min told me so much about his charactor, he is going to be an awesome player for us,does everything so well and plays with heart. Nathen Dyer also made a fantastic tackle towards the end of the game showing he means buisness, one thing with him though, he needs to button his lip and get on with the game, picking up another booking within minutes of being on the field is not the way to go, what a class finish though.

Ash had a great game today, getting back to his best . monk played a great game today, he was at the peak of his powers but yet again was at fault for the goal, ok we are always going to conceed but the amount of soft goals we give away make us boarder line relegation if we get injuries to our goal scorers.

Im happy with a point, it was a hard hard game, 3 were there for the taking and im sure we will see other teams go there and murder them !! points are slipping away from us by not taking the maximum against a poor reading team and a battling southampton team, but on the flip side we have to say playing the bottom teams has always been our achiles heel .

    3pts lost ?
1 point gained and deserved ?
1 point we battled hard for ?

Whats the thoughts of my fellow Jacks?

Point gained no doubt. We were very poor today and just be glad we were playing a piss poor team, a decent one would have slaughtered us

Unless they've started giving 4 points for a win, we can only have lost 2 points maximum ;)

I'd say 1 point gained that we didn't deserve.

Definitely 1 point gained. Despite Southamptons poor record so far, we have no divine right to turn up to any away game and expect a win. Aim for a win of course, but we cant expect it. Any away point for me is a bonus and regardless of who we play they will always see it as points dropped.
Were more than capable of getting a win at any stadium imo so dont mistake being happy with a point as being negative and expecting to lose because im not.. I just dont think we are a big enough or established enough team yet to be going away and expecting 3 points.
We didnt play well by any stretch today, even Britton was misplacing simple 5 yard passes, but its another step forward and another game unbeaten.
Reading, QPR and Saints look doomed.

For me it was a point gained, particularly after going behind with that soft goal, I noticed some of our players looked tired today, Britton, De Guzman, and Ki looked off the mark on times, though Ki's back tracking was immense, saved the game for us on numerous occasions, think maybe it was the kind of game we would have clearly lost last season, Southampton were in our faces most of the game pressing high up the field, and our passing suffered some what due to this, they kept Michu tagged too. Very pleased for Nathan Dyer to get the goal against his old club!................<cheers>

I didnt think they actually pressed us that hard, i just thought we ran out of ideas in the final 3rd . we were comfortable on the ball for long periods, 2nd half seemed to go against us as they threw caution to the wind and went for it.

Southampton targeted a win here today and they were well up for it too, it is a game we would normally have folded in, problem for us is that most teams have this attitude when they play us, we are most teams dead cert. 3pts when we go to theirs, last year we picked up crucial away wins at key times, this year we are over due an away result to keep us ticking over, as we havent gained as many points at home as maybe we would have liked.

Special mention to the boys ive been harsh on, ben devies, monk and tremmel did well today overall, patchy in places but i think most of the team were.

Maybe the mental edge Laudrup talked about did surface today but the boys soldiered on regardless so fair play, a point gained and no ground gained by our relegation rivals so not the worst day, maybe one of the worst performances.

Our final third was not up to scratch today, don't know why but maybe it was Michu being kept quiet around the box, though Southampton always seemed to have more bodies in their box, we didn't seem to have the speed today on the counter attack either......................<ok>

Point gained, its all good and well mocking the way they play and their fans for paying money to watch that shower every week but you have to deal with it and time and time again we didnt deal with the knockdowns. The goal we conceded was so soft. Many of our players let us down today, pretty unhappy michu didn't even bother to clap the fans who were making effort at 7 this morning when he was largely anonymous for lots of it. Criticised Pablo on here a couple of weeks ago and he's been twice the player since but again today he wasn't good in my view.

The frustration for me came from all the encouragement we gave them all game, first half they were silent and only created opportunities when we'd lost it really softly, but we kept doing it and that woke their fans up and gave them belief and energy.

Just weren't good enough, not a fan of the false 9 away from home either but might just be personal preference. Point gained which probably balances out the city game where I felt we were unlucky not to draw.

Michu IMO needs to be dropped back into the hole, up front is not his game and he maybe needs a couple of games playing the position he thrives in.

I think those comments are spot on in fairness, Pablo i thought did well though overall, Michu was totally starved of service. We are limping into the transfer window defensively and i hope we strengthen there otherwise its relegation dogfight time.

Some think we are a mid table team, i think we need a major slice of luck to acheive that, the same slice of luck we had last year RE injury.

Ki got injured today, hope he is fit for next game but at least midfield is an area we are strong in

Trouble is Southampton are fighting for their lives, with a manager on borrowed time, and I was hoping we would have sent him on his way!..........<laugh>

Point gained no doubt. We were poor Southampton wanted it more than us. But once we got it back level, I though only one team would win that being us.

I forgot to say, Southampton are the biggest bunch of divers I've seen in a long time, thank goodness the ref wouldn't stand for their playacting.

Also, Neveroff is nowhere near as deranged as FFS

Point gained. Thought Soton played well.

Last year's equivalent fixture was Blackburn away which we lost 4-2.

Next week michu back in mid with JDG and Brits, dyer to start ahead of Routledge, maybe being dropped for a game will spark him back into form.. Chico back in defence, then DG to start upfront. Lets see it!

Looking on the bright side, that was our first away point since Aug 18th - our first game of the season!
