How many players were Arsenal linked with? How many players did Arsene make offers for? If rumours are to be believed he tried to get SEVERAL big-name players, really big signings to inspire and placate the fans, but they didn't happen.

Most it seems didn't happen because the players were happy at their clubs and their clubs didn't want to sell. Hazard was happy at Lille, and Lille are mad with Arsenal, Gotze for £35m was turned down. Cahill is NOT worth 17m - and Bolton's greed has left them losing out on lots of money. Likewise Jagielka isn't worth 18m.

I firmly believe that Arsenal tried to sign good players for big money in this window, but their advances were rebuffed. Even Kaka on loan looked a possibility, but on a permanent transfer he was on too much money - likewise Sneijder.

I'm pretty happy with the business. A tad worried about the LB, since the stories are he's not good at defending. If he can play offside though he's an improvement. I honestly think the club did the best they could in the circumstances. They should have prepared earlier for the loss of Nasri & Fabregas, but the players they were rejected by still wouldn't have come in.

Something I don't understand is why there were rumours about Kaka going to us or Spurs. What the hell would Mourinho want to loan out Mr. Jesusfeet for?

That Real Madrid can afford to have a player like Kaka as a bench-warmer is insanity.

Not so simple ??? REally ? Thats why he pushed through all those signings in 2 days because he wanted to.

It IS simple, players have a price, either meet that price or shut the hell up, don't make bids of half of what the club wants.

Other clubs buy players with minimal fuss, only at Arsenal is it like a G8 summit when it comes to buying players.
