He started the band with his brother Robert "Kool" Bell in 1964. Despite being a card carrying member of the Headbanger's Club I went to see Kool and the Gang at the Hammersmith Odeon. Proper musicians.
Sadly the version of K&TG I saw didn't feature JT Taylor on vocals but the band were solid. Did anyone else sing "Get down on it, suck my helmet"? It was popular round my way.
