Clearly it's looks like the season is in danger of imploding for lack of a striker. But I have the sense the midfield has also gone off the boil since start of January. Meyler barely looked up to it since we paid 1.5 million for him, and generally we are just not passing the ball anywhere near as well as a month ago. Feeling very much like last season at the moment...
System needs to change we have no width whatsoever and are too easy to shut out. 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 now, this narrow formation is a total bag of ****e.
I love it how most people said they didn't care about the cup then when we get knocked out they bleat on and on. If it meant nowt why all the fuss?
I wanted a good cup run I never said anything other. I like the excitement of playing teams we never usually et to play.
I just see it as an extension of our last 2/3 games... yes the team was slightly different but not massively. we're gonne keep drawing or losing 0-1 without a striker in.
Proschwitz did nothing wrong today - he was one of our better players. I think the "blame it on a striker" thing might be simplifying the issue.
Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham Steve Bruce said he was "not hopeful" about bringing in a new striker this week. Did not seem optimistic at all.
Talk about recalling McLean instead of a new striker coming in. Is Fryatt definitely out for the whole season? Any chance he can get back late on? If he had the operation so long ago how come it's keeping him out so long?
We're going through a bad patch, everyone does. I wasn't expecting to be where we are, we still have plenty of chance to go up and if we don't, the main thing for me is that we keep Bruce and that Bruce is building a solid platform for the future. I wanted to win today, but whatever happens, I'll enjoy the season. UTT
Yea Burnsy says Bruce is looking at recalling McLean. That doesnt actually count as bringing in a new striker does it?
I agree, Meyler has been a bit shaky since signing and though it pains me to say it, Quinn, by his own high standards has not been as good as he was. Though I still think both will continue to be important players for us. I don't mention a third midfielder purely because it seems to have been rotated so much recently.
that first bloke on RH -in Brid , obviously not been to the game , so why does the radio station want his opinion ? He then went on to ask why McLean isnt given a go . If these are the sort of people complaining then so what !!
David Burns ‏@bbcburnsy From Steve Bruce, no further forward on DJ Campbell, no on Ebanks-Blake,Becchio going elsewhere, may recall Mclean. #hcafc WTF?
Proschwitz had a great game but the lack of quality in midfield again made him come deep for the ball. Meyler hasn't looked interested since we bought him, many times today he was jogging towards the ball with his head down. I fear we've spent all our budget on Meyler and Brady who aren't going to keep their level of performance up now they've signed.
It is worse than that. We have spent most of next seasons budget buying them. We had no budget for perm deals this transfer window only for loans.
In other words SB is saying; "No I'm not going to reveal my targets at such a delicate point in negotiations and I would sooner everyone lowered their expectations (hence Mclean) rather than touting every unlikely name on the market".
