Cant wait for the Ipswich game. Wish Chops was still with us. Hope JET plays for Ipswich - should be a laugh. However there is another big occasion Saturday. So lets all get behind Cardiff City fan Nathan Cleverly on Saturday. Would have loved to have gone up to back him. 3 points for City and Cleverly putting Bellew in his place will make it a great weekend.
Should be a good few days: Saturday :: Rugby, City, Boxing Sunday :: Sleeping off Saturday Monday:: Divorce court
Having lived in Cardiff for 32 years and after watching the Welsh beat the Irish last week I'm now an adopted Welshman (but only till after the Rugby World Cup!!). My weekend is : Up early Saturday to support the Welsh team, off to the CCS to support the Bluebirds and then home for a large bowl of pasta and an early night before dragging these old legs around the Cardiff Half Marathon on Sunday. When the going gets tough I'll just remember the £500 plus we have raised for Velindre.
Well done on the fundraising Irish. I'm running Cardiff Half too, have a good race. Sunny intervals forecast!
Have a good run Irish & Daz, I'm doing the Frankfurt 1/2 marathon at the end of the month, my first one at 50+ any tips?
Good luck Daz and taffthefish and thank you for your good wishes. Taff...just get the miles in the legs and stock up on carbohydrates before the run. I'm now in the 60+ category and all I just take it easy, take in lots of liquid and maybe a few jelly babies at 10 miles! It's not a race at my age, just an experience to be enjoyed and a chance to raise some money for Cancer Research.
Taff - as Irish says it's all a matter of getting the miles done in training. With regards to fluids, you need to hydrate properly for a few days before. During the race I'm a "little but often" man went it comes to fluids. As it's your first Half, don't get too obsessed with completion time, try to enjoy it. When you've finished, then you can think about a full Marathon ;-)
Being 50 isn't an issue! As long as you have done your training you will be fine. Don't go off too fast, keep it steady and keep off the booze until after the race!! (When u are away for the weekend the temptation is to have a few beers on the Saturday night).
good luck in your events guys, wish i had the energy to move, seriously tho one event i would have to have tried if younger was the hawaii ironman triathlon except i cant swim that far, cycle that far without getting a sore ass, run and walk the marathon i could do, hope you all achieve what you want to out of your events
Taff - don't worry if it takes all day, that finishers medal will be as well deserved as anyone elses. Then the first pint after the finish will taste wonderful.
Hee hee swimaway. I think we know where Nathan's loyalties lie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Nathan_Cleverly_2010.jpg Good luck tonight Nathan.
