Typing this from a train, got all the eastleigh when I found out the game was cancelled. Promptly got out and got the next train back north. 15 quid down the drain and a wasted train journey. Not happy at all. I bet if brighton or bournemouth are playing at home today, their games won't be cancelled.
My sister said it's been raining buckets for hours over Portsmouth, surprised that they even thought the game could take place tbh. It's a great shame for everyone who was travelling down for the match though.
Sympathies to you Lapras!! Years ago PFC had one of the finest pitches in football. This is further evidence of the club being aloud to decay! A proper drainage system would have been able to deal with this. Yes, it has been raining, quite heavily in patches, but it has hardly been a monsoon.!!
Well, I ended up at Fortress Cherrywood Road to see the mighty Farnborough who won 5-2(!) against Dover, they were 5-0 up after just 40 minutes and before that it was something silly like 3-0 after 15 minutes! So yes, that was fun at least. I was right though, Bournemouth's game was played as was Brighton's. Funny that. As Ides' says, this just shows how the club's decayed in recent years. If there's one match that's postponed you can almost guarantee it will probably be us. Very annoyed about the wasted money.
I got as far as Pompey, was settled in the good companion having just ordered lunch to hear we were off ........ so I ate my grub jumped back in the Disco and headed home, got as far as the Amex........looked at the old man who gave an approving nod to which we put the motor in the university campus......legged it across the road to see if we could purchase tickets in the away end....... which we did.......and watched a thoroughly entertaining match. We even drew some comments from some of the derby fans as we had our pompey gear and coats on who even tried a rendition of PUP....PPU.....have to say it rescued the day but the Amex as nice a stadium as it is is still a bloody library for the most! BP
Caught the 1247 Wightlink cat from Ryde along with around 60 other fans, and heard as soon as we docked in Portsmouth that the result of the ground inspection at Fratton Park was negative. Most of the fans caught the next cat back to Ryde, some went to Gunwharf for a meal. Feel very sorry for any Notts County fans who made a wasted journey down here. It's a long way to come.
I considered going to Gunwharf Quays I've never been there before and I want to see if it's how I imagined it. Had I been with someone, I may have done so. I had my Portsmouth flag with me folded in my pocked, was tempted to break it out at Farnborough and start chanting "Play up Farnborough!" but I decided against it. Coincidentally one of the chants that the Farnborough fans chanted was to the same tune as Play up Pompey (i.e. the chimes of Westminster and various other clocks).
You carry a folded flag In your pocket PL ? No wonder you are having difficulty getting the right women on your arm, just when they think your pleased to see them, You pull out a flag.
I am really surprised that you didn't welcome all the puddles! First time that there has been any liquidity at Fratton Park in years........
Should have covered the ground with water butts. At least that way, if the waterboard cut us off we'd still have some liquid assets
