supers, i'd be surprised if they were able to spend £100M, as this would mean the owners would have to pump in a shed load of cash, from what they were reporting (obviously this is the information we have) on the local news here. The money Liebherr put in was converted from loans to equity as well. You'd have thought because he has passed away, the family would be unsure whether to put more in.

also, knowing quite a lot of Saints fans, I very much doubt they would be happy doing a QPR

i did say they won't spend £100m - i said they could if they wanted to because they have enormous financial clout in the background. it wasn't just the guy who died with the money.

Yellow little, i agree about Saints (being tricky).
I'm not so sure about Reading. Being my local team, i keep a good eye on them (and also trying to persuade my eldest son to not support them and continue to support Norwich!)
They have a great manager, but their squad isn't that impressive, they are defensively strong though and play as a unit. In fact it's quite similar to our situation last year. It'll be very interesting to see what happens with their new owners and what cash they give to McDermott.

one thing for sure, i think Reading and Saints will be a further breath of fresh air to the Premier League, on top of what us and Swansea have brought this year <ok>

Definately, I think Southampton will do well and I think they will spend a fair whack this summer.

Regarding Reading they picked up a couple of wins and just didn't stop, I agree about their squad similar to us in a way but perhaps a bit older than are promotion winning team and also more of a defensive unit. Shocked to see Adam Le Fondre top scorer and to my knowledge has played most his games this season coming off the bench. I think if they get a 15 goal forward like a Holt or Graham they'll survive, but like you said depends whether he gets backed by the new owners. Watched a couple of interviews with McDermott, similar approach to PL the way in which he continously deflects any praise on to the team, I think he is pretty good manager myself.

yes, mcdermott is pretty quiet and just gets on with it. up front, they also have Jason Roberts, Simon Church and Noel Hunt. bit of a mixed bag of strikers, which is what you need to get up there. Roberts has PL experience, not sure how old he is now.

I rate Jason Roberts, powerful player who always gets goals when he is playing regularly. Noel Hunt can be handy on his day too.

Dann and Johnson are strange defenders...seem to struggle this season. Maybe they were just a great pairing and read eachothers games well?

i think you're dead right irdan. good partnership, knew each others games well and complimented each others strengths and weaknesses. i'm surprised johnson has struggled, though matters off the pitch appear to have had an effect on his game. wasn't so sure about dann but he was going into a sinking ship anyway. put them back together again and i think they'd be worth a shout

Personally I actually still rate Dann, think he can do a job and was arguably man of the match when we lost to them. I reckon them losing Samba has cost them as when they hit a bit of form Dann and Samba were playing well.

I don't really think much of Johnson, I think he is pretty over rated and has not improved Wolves at all this season, I am not too sure about the off the pitch matters that you mentioned?? All I know of is his wife kicked off on twitter. The Wayne Hennessy scuffle wasn't much either.

I think a big factor in their partnership working was Stephen Carr and Liam Ridgewell. They were unsung heroes in that defence and the whole back four were on fire for Birmingham the first season they came up and finished top half.
