Lawyers acting for Ashton Vale protesters says High Court has allowed substitution of claimant over judicial review. More soon....

BBC Bristol saying they've actually allowed a second review outside the 3 month window. As a separate entitiy to the original.. This is getting ridiculous now.

    CLUB STATEMENT
Posted on: Thu 23 Feb 2012

The club is aware of recent and on-going developments in claims to challenge Bristol City Council's decision to register land at Ashton Vale as a Town and Village Green.

This is a complex legal case between an individual claimant, Bristol City Council and the landowners. Bristol City Football Club is not a party to this legal process, although we clearly have a huge interest in the outcome.

Bristol City Football Club will make no further comment on this matter for the time being.

Well this is just absolutely ridiculous and why nothing gets done in Bristol.

Completely bonkers - this is why we've got such appalling infrastructure and facilities in Bristol compared to every other major UK city.

    I despair.

What a messed up country we live in,we allow imigrants in their thousands,we allow the nhs to be bogged down by people that don't pay a single penny for it.

Yet we have a man who comes from the city, that wants to improve the city he comes from, employing hundreds of people along the way.

This is a crazy crazy country we live in.

The goverment and the local councils really need to get their houses in order.

Apparently the city council are taking it too the high court next week as they were not made aware of the court appointment the tvg campaigners also claimed harrasment at the hearing against the original claimant and the court were not aware of the 2nd letter.

To be fair to the council it's not really their fault - it's people driving a number 9 bus through poorly drafted legislation.
Eventually the courts will see sense - this stadium will happen

We always knew that this planning application would be contested because of the position of the site and that the usual protesters who would raise mayhem. The ring road was a good example of people, many not even living in our area, who cost the taxpayer huge sums in legal costs by protesting against the plans. They actually received free legal aid!!
I do believe those who have good reason to object to planning applications should be allowed to pursue those objections through the full legal process.

BUT IMO this planning applications procedure has become a complete and utter farce. It really is about time the powers that be should guillotine the procedure and over-rule either the planning application or the objections to it. We all know that the plans will eventually be passed, so for God's sake stop pissing about and MAKE THE DECISION.

This will be appealed by the council next week. Can't believe that this country's legal system can have a hearing without the council being informed that this was going ahead.

Also, London, Southampton, Leicester, Nottingham, Derby, Ipswich, Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesborough, Leeds etc

Sooner or later it will come home to some of us that we are not a big club with a divine right to be successful. therefore, when we get a successful manager/financier we need to keep them (not piss them off). The same can be said for star strikers, although I am not sure I believe everything Maynard tells me (!)

Bristol can become a footballing center, but it needs our supporters to exercise patience. Having supported City for over 40 years I know how difficult that is, but there are a lot of football clubs in this country and they cant all be in the top 5.
The message here is - our time will come, if we dont all cook the golden goose. It will happen sooner if SL channels his effort into building one of the best academies around and we dont spend it all on dodgy loans and expensive contracts
